wanted to write a bit more of slow burn for them first, not edited, gonna work at part 3 rn
You didn't know why you felt nervous for parent-teacher conferences, the last couple years weren't too hectic or difficult. But you knew that Logan was showing up tonight, the two of you growing closer. He'd come up with excuses to stay around in the morning, at first you weren't too nervous around him. Sure, he was handsome, but he was just another parent. But then there were the fleeting touches, the lingering stares that made your heart race. The look in his eyes that made your stomach fill with butterflies.
Though now your feelings for Logan weren't really a secret. Everyone saw the two of you bonding and getting too closer to each other. Rumors going around about the two of you dating, along with him being The Wolverine. You didn't want to ask and prod; it couldn't have been an easy thing to talk about. If he hadn't brought it up yet, you weren't going to say anything. If and when he wanted to tell you was up to him.
You found yourself glancing at his lips for long periods of times when he spoke, though he didn't say much. Logan would talk to you, espically about Laura, you couldn't help but gush about the girl. You saw the potential in her writing, you saw how smart she was. One morning you even went on about a little writing contest, "There's always one through the school, usually for the 7th graders but I think they'd make an expectation for Laura. Especially if I recommend-."
"You don't gotta do that." Logan assured, his voice deep as his hand came out, you swallowed as your eyes went to the glasses on his nose. You really didn't think this man could get more attractive but here he was. Your hand came to scratch at your forearms out of nerves.
"I want to, I'm a huge writer, it's why I'm a teacher, and Laura is what I'd advanced in her literacy, comprehension, writing." You trailed, smiling over at him, as a fond smile came over his lips as he leant on one hip. You brought your coffee up to your lips, sipping on the drink as you leant against your desk. Logan stepped closer to you, glancing down at you.
"Can I-I uh hug you?" His deep voice, rumbled, you never thought you'd hear Logan say those words. But you nodded your head as you straighten your back as you moved forward. His arms moving out to wrap around your waist, tucking yourself into his arms. Your own arms going around his waist, indulging in the hug as you practically melted in his arms. The two of you not moving away from each other, until you heard a giggle. You separated your cheeks flushing as you looked away from Logan.
"Thank you, Y/n."
"No problem, Logan." You assured, finally looking back into his eyes.
You blinked back into present time as you glanced over at the door. You saw one of your other students on the other side, you dusted off your dress before walking over to greet them. The whole time your mind was preoccupied by Logan and his daughter. There was a part of you that hoped that maybe you wouldn't end up alone. That Logan walked into your life with a purpose. Hoping that your feelings weren't one sided because that would be incredibly awkward.
Then you tried to stay present with each child and parents. Going over the projects that they had done, the books they've read, the assignments you worked on. Each child had a slightly different portfolio, you let each of them decorate their own folder, along with writing a little story for their parents. With each assignment you tried to take time to individualize for each kid so they would be able to better engage with the material. You thought that using your words and writing in general was such an important expression. That your words mattered. Something Laura had been opening up with, talking more and more with you.
One afternoon, Logan walked into the classroom while Laura was going on about a book she had read. He paused in the door a fond smile on his face as he leant against the doorframe. Your eyes moved over to him, looking up at him with an almost dreamy expression as you met his green eyes. Laura grinned at your face before turning her head towards her dad. "Hey!" she chirped, she started rambling on about her day, your eyes feeling Logan's stare. The way he was looking at you, made your chest feel uncomfortable, but it made you want to kiss him.
