As Korvin, Xander, and Xavier made their way back to the pack house, the air felt charged with an uneasy tension.
Korvin's mind raced with thoughts of their encounter with Noah. It wasn't just the oddity of Noah's behavior that unsettled him; it was the strange sense of calm that had washed over him in the greenhouse.
"Is anyone feeling kinda weird?" Xander broke the silence, glancing back at the trees behind them.
They were already a long distance away from the greenhouse, but all three of them still felt as if something was watching them.
Korvin clutched the pot of Lunargrove Blossoms in a tight grip. "It was strange."
Xavier frowned. "You think he's—"
Korvin shook his head. "No, it felt like something else. He was acting different."
Xander grimaced. "Maybe it's the rejection."
Korvin once again looked back at the trees. "Maybe..."
They reached the pack house soon after.
The building was quiet. The Meute de Loupes were not known for being early risers and slept later than most other packs.
Fenris was resting uneasily on the couch, sweat beading on his forehead.
"Did you get it?" he rasped, voice strained.
"Yeah," Korvin answered, placing the pot carefully on the table. "But you won't believe who we ran into."
"Professor Lupita?"
Korvin sighed. "Unfortunately, no. It was Noah."
Fenris's eyes immediately darkened. "What did he want?"
"He gave us the flowers without much fuss."
"... Really?"
"Just handed them over and told us to leave."
Fenris frowned, frustration flickering across his features. "He's always been... unpredictable. This could be a trap."
"Or he's just lost it completely," Xavier chimed in. "The guy's been fixated on you. Maybe he's finally snapped."
Fenris sighed, and suddenly, a large wolf with ebony black fur, appeared beside him, growling softly, its fierce gaze locked on Korvin.
"He is dangerous and unpredictable. Trust your instincts," the spiritual wolf warned, its voice a low rumble in the air.'
Korvin's own wolf, equally as majestic with a coat of snow-white fur, emerged as well, its presence comforting yet alert. "We need to keep an eye on him. He does not give up easily."
"Why is he acting like nothing happened?" Fenris muttered, his fists clenching.
"He hurt you," his wolf growled, baring its teeth in a protective stance.
Fenris sat up slowly, his breath hitching. "I'm not redoing the bonds."
The topic ended there.
Xander and Xavier sat down on another sofa and the conversation shifted to next week's agenda for the Meute de Loupes.
As an outsider, Korvin took this as his cue to give them space.
He grabbed the flowers from the table and left for the kitchen.
The headmaster had given him instructions on how to brew the pain remedy.
As he prepared the supplies, he couldn't stop thinking about Noah's sudden... weirdness.
