The cafeteria was a noisy place—Noor quickly found out once he started to attend this mortal school.

Being in a room filled with a few hundred teenage werewolves between the respectable ages of fourteen to eighteen was an annoyance, but Noah Brink was a mortal werewolf who attended class and gained sustenance by eating at the cafeteria.

Thus, Noor's diet now consisted of the animals he absorbed for breakfast and dinner, and a cooked meal five times a week for lunch.

"Are you going to eat that?" Yin asked.

His elder brother was lounging on the empty table Noor had all to himself since no one dared to sit with him.

This was quite good for Noor, who was naturally territorial.

He tossed a few pieces of food from his tray into one of Yin's mouths.

Yin was a gluttonous sort of godly entity and was therefore not picky with what he ate.

"They're watching you again," Yin told him, once he had eaten nearly all his food.

Noor wiped his lips with a napkin and glanced at his brother lazily. "It is the fault of Lord Father for making them so foolish."

"They find you intriguing," Yin insisted with a grin.

"They should focus on themselves. Sooner or later, a war shall break out. What good would it be for the Protagonist to be weak?"

"They are endearing little things who are compelled to befriend you."

"I am not here to make friends." Noor glared at him.

Yin gave a great big yawn. "You know, Lord Father has always been worried by your solitude. You may be part Botanical Star, my dear brother, but you are also part of Lord Father."

Noor was puzzled by what Yin said. What did he mean by that?

Korvin entered the cafeteria and the first thing that drew his attention was the sight of Noah sitting in his usual spot by the corner.

All the tables were completely packed with werewolves except for that one.

Noah sat with an unnatural calm radiating from him. Regardless of all the noise around him, he was unaffected.

Whispers had traveled like wildfire after what happened in the hall with Brayden.

Werewolves being werewolves—with an incredible sense of hearing—everyone already knew what had happened by lunchtime.

"Did you see what he did to Brayden?" a girl whispered to her friend, her voice laced with awe. "He just looked at him, and Brayden crumbled."

"I heard he's different now. Like, really different," the friend replied.

"I heard he killed someone the other day."

"Who?"

"A rogue. The one who kidnapped Leader Lowell."

"No... how could—"

The rumor went from Brayden getting his ass handed to him to Brayden being secretly killed off between second and third period, hence why he was not in the cafeteria today.

Korvin stole another glance at Noah. The red-haired boy stared blankly at his tray, which only had a few bits and pieces of food left. A flicker of something—was it boredom?—passed across his face. He seemed utterly detached from the world around him.
