A week after visiting the abandoned greenhouse that was not abandoned, Korvin found himself making his way back in search of another herb.

Tonight was the full moon and Fenris had fallen ill—a side-effect of the rejection.

Headmaster Beowulf had given him a list of ingredients and instructions on how to brew a remedy for the illness, and just as luck would have it, Korvin needed to go back to the greenhouse because the main ingredient only grew there and nowhere else.

He felt the Moon Goddess was being awfully unfair.

It was Fenris who rejected Noah as a means of self-preservation, yet, despite the terrible things that were done to him, he was most impacted after the bond was broken.

Korvin had observed Noah in class and during passing period, and he appeared unbothered by what happened.

No indication of a fever, shortness of breath, or any sort of pain at all.

There was something wrong—Korvin was sure of it. He just didn't know what it was that made him suspect that Noah might have something to do with it.

When he entered the greenhouse, he was met with the scent of rich soil, and lots and lots of humidity.

He only took a few steps inside when he heard a rustle and turned to see Noah emerging from behind the large leaves of a giant tree.

In his hand was a pot of flowers Korvin had never seen before.

"It's a Dendrobium," Noah explained, tilting the pot so Korvin could see the blooms better.

"They're... pretty," Korvin replied.

Noah hummed and set the pot down.

This was weird.

Korvin hasn't seen Noah in the Meute de Loupe pack house since the rejection, and during school hours, the crazy guy avoided him and Fenris, and basically anyone who was in the same pack.

His avoidance had become a topic of concern among the pack members and Korvin got to watch the frenzy energy reach its peak whenever he visited the pack house.

"What do you want?" Noah asked, his voice calm, almost nonchalant for someone who used to corner him in the hallway and threaten him.

Korvin swallowed, his heart racing. "I'm looking for Argent Fern. Headmaster Beowulf said I could find them here...?"

Noah pointed toward a bush about thirty feet away.

"It's behind that. Take as many as you want."

"Oh, um. Thank you." Korvin felt very awkward about this situation.

Without Xavier and Xander, it was just himself and Noah, interacting with the civility levels of two people who were only acquaintances at best.

Except, they were not acquaintances.

They were enemies.

Or, as Noah had often proclaimed, "love rivals."

But did love rivals behave as violently and underhanded as Noah?

Korvin had seen rivals in love.

Conservative packs, such as the Branco di Lupis and Flock Vargar, followed the old ways and required love rivals to battle each other for the person they were interested in. The losers were expected to accept their losses graciously and give up on their pursuit.
