"Gautam, are you sure about this?", Virat asked his husband. "Yeh election wagera ka chakkar kyu chahiye? Waise bhi we are under so much public scrutiny", he added. "Virat, we discussed this. It's something I feel strongly about and the leadership here is willing to field me as their candidate. Sabko ye mauka nahi milta, Vi", Gautam explained. "But doesn't it mean you will have to disclose our relationship?", Virat asked. "Not really. We got married in Vegas, Vi. We are not married as per Indian laws", Gautam replied, not noticing the sudden frown on Virat's face. "Oh, OK. That's why you never pushed for registering in India? And refused to accept any gifts from me? You always planned to get into politics and hid it from me? Do I even know you, Gautam?", Virat asked.

The next few weeks flew away in the announcement of candidature, election campaign and results. Though Virat was not totally convinced of the idea, he decided to stay by his husband's decision. Gautam won as predicted and Virat Gambhir Kohli was now an MP's spouse. Things didn't change much for him as their relationship was not public. But the gradual reduction in the time they spent together was a direct casualty of the election result. They couldn't be seen together anywhere, so their house was their only sanctuary.

Gautam took up mentorship roles with some IPL franchises on a part time basis but was more or less a full time active politician now. Virat tried his best to support him, but long tours without Gautam visiting even once was taking a toll on him. They had tried to sneak out abroad for some time alone but had narrowly escaped a public scandal. There were murmurs about Gautam being gay and it was proposed by the leadership that he would be accompanied by some susheel, sanskari girl while on public outings to curb the rumour mill. There would be some articles posted on how the two met in the youth conference of the party and fell in love. The only flaw- they forgot to take a buy in from the MP.

It was after the whole girlfriend - future wife PR story unfurled that Gautam Gambhir came to know about the grand plan. One of the stories had gone overboard with fake stories of their roka. He didn't need to guess what his husband's reaction would be. "Shadi mubarak, MP saheb. I am moving to my Mumbai house. I would prefer it if you can move out your stuff", Virat had messaged. Gautam decided to talk to his party leadership before chasing after his husband. "What happens inside the confines of my house is none of the public's business as long as there is nothing illegal about it. Please kill the girlfriend and engagement story right away or else I will be forced to call the press and clarify", Gautam said. "So, the rumours are true? You have any idea what will happen to your career if this gets out?", his leader asked him. "Sir, I can put in my papers if you want, right now. You can just say that the party was unaware of my sexual preferences and that would be the end of the matter. But I can't allow my partner to go through this humiliation. He has suffered enough", Gautam said before walking out. He flew to Mumbai the same day- he had a husband to appease.

He had visited Virat's Mumbai home a few times but had no access to it. So, he had to approach the security guard for permission to enter the premises. He, in turn, had to ask for Virat's approval, which he promptly refused. "Virat, baby, please let me come inside. Let's talk this out like mature adults. Aise baccho jaisi harkat mat karo na", Gautam begged. "Ya ya.. Go marry that mature bi*ch. Main aisa hi hu", said Virat before disconnecting. "Vi, my love, please. I am begging you. Give me a chance to explain my side. If you still want to break up after that, I won't stop you", Gautam pleaded. He was finally allowed entry after 15 mins of waiting.

"Bolo jaldi, jo bolna hai. I am going out soon", said Virat at his angry best. "Virat, I had no idea that they had planted that woman in my team as my beard. They did not ask me for my permission, they just released stupid stories about us. I swear jaana, I have nothing to do with that woman. I have already offered my resignation and told them that my personal life is out of bounds for them. You are my priority, Virat. I know our relationship has suffered due to my entry into politics. That's why I am planning to quit- I will inform them soon", Gautam explained.
