Warning: Poly Relationship

"Shub, wake up na, baby. We have already missed the gym today. We need to reach on time at least for breakfast", Virat tried to wake up his boyfriend. "Sone do na, Vi. You both kept me awake all night. I am soo tired. Ishan ko jaake disturb karo aap", Shubman replied in his groggy voice. "He is already awake baccha. We took a bath together. I thought we should let you sleep a bit more", Virat replied.

"Shubi, uth na meri jaan. Should I pick you up and put you in the bath tub?", Ishan asked. Shubman tried to sit up, but lied back down with a wince. Virat picked him up and carried him to the bathroom, where Ishan had already prepared the bath tub for him.

"Shubman, do you remember your safe word?", Virat asked once he had placed Shubman in the bath tub. "Ummm.. Short Leg?", asked Shubman. "That's what you call me, dumbo", Ishan chided. "You are my safe place, Ishi", Shub replied. "Safe place nahi baba, safe word- what do you say when either of us push you too hard in the bedroom?", Virat asked again. "Oh? Ya- fine leg?", asked Shubman. "Yaad tha toh kal bola kyu nahi? You know we are both addicted to you, baby. You need to tell us to stop if it is too much na, jaana?", Virat asked his younger partner. "It wasn't too much- I was enjoying it too much to tell you to stop", Shubman replied with a silly grin.

Virat shook his head and left the bathroom."Ishu, please talk some sense into him. We are cricketers- we cannot afford to miss practice after going on like bunnies all night", Virat advised. "Don't worry, Vi. He is just being goofy. Give him time to settle into this new routine- he will be fine", said Ishan. Ishan helped Shubman to wash up and get dressed. "Sleepy, Ishu", whined Shubman once they were seated for breakfast. Ishan had to help him finish his breakfast as Shubman was being too bratty.

They didn't have practice that day, so they decided to stay in their rooms and rest. Virat had to go to his room as no-practice day meant his room would be frequented by all the 'Virat bhai' fans and he didn't want to raise suspicion. He got a call from Ishan around lunchtime. "Aap zara aa sakte hain kya? Shubman is a bit cranky", he said. Virat made excuses and went go see his heartbeats. Shubman made grabby hands at him the moment he entered the room. "Shubi, what happened my jaan? Are you not feeling well?", asked Virat, while checking his forehead. "Ishu, thoda fever jaise lag raha hai. Give him the fever meds, sone de usko thoda. And you sleep on the couch- I don't want you to catch it", Virat advised.

It was in the middle of the night that Virat received a call from Ishan. "He has high fever, Virat. I am scared",said Ishan. "Tu ruk. I am coming", said Virat before rushing to their room. Shubman had a very high fever and was too weak. Virat noticed that Ishan had slept on the bed with Shubman. "I told you not to sleep on the bed with him na, Ishu. If you also fall sick, how am I going to take care of both my babies?", he asked. The doctor was called and the necessary treatments were given to bring the fever down- Ishan was told to strictly stay out of the room till they knew Shubman was not contagious.

Virat had a very difficult two days managing two whining kids. Shubman kept asking to meet his boyfriends and Ishan wanted nothing more than to hold Shubman in his arms to make sure that he was fine. "Listen to me both of you- Shubman has undergone blood tests. As soon as we know what exactly is the issue, we can get it resolved na. Please don't be upset, mera bacchas", Virat assured them on their video call. It ended up being dengue. While it meant that he wasn't contagious, the increasing body aches and a falling platelet count meant that Shub was getting hospitalised.

"Main usko chodke nahi jaaunga, Virat", Ishan insisted, when he was told that the team was moving to the next location for the match. "Baby, you think I am not worried for him? You are his back up opener, my jaan. And it is the world cup. Aap aise zid mat karo na. Please pack your stuff", Virat advised. "Uske bina travel karne ki aadat choot gayi hai, Virat. We stuff everything together and just share what is required. Ab mujhe pata hi nahi hai uska kya hai aur mera kya", Ishan responded. "Come, I will help you out", offered Virat. It was once he started packing that Virat realised the truth in Ishan's words. There was nothing of Shubman's or Ishan's- everything belonged to Ishman. He was quite thankful that he was a whole decade older than his boys and had a much different wardrobe preference.

Ishan stuck to Virat for the rest of the day. He had his face covered with glares all day- the whole team knew he was crying, so nobody bothered to ask him. "You need to get some food in your body. If Shub comes to know that you are on a bhook hartal because of him, socho kitna bura lagega usko. Please, kuch kha lo na Ishi", Virat managed to get Ishan to eat one full meal. "Vi, how are you holding up?", Rohit asked him later. "Like I am about to break down any moment? I lost it when I saw Shub with the IV drip and the blood transfusion- but I need to be strong for Ishan. God, of all things, I didn't expect sick days to be the most difficult thing to manage in a three way", Virat whispered.

Ishan gave his best in the matches that he played in place of Shubman. His gritty knock in the Pakistan match had left both his boyfriends in awe- Virat had made sure that Ishan was treated like a King's partner that night. Although Shubman couldn't join in the celebrations since he was still not physically fully recovered, he showered his happiness in the form of butterfly kisses all over Ishan's face.

Ishan was unfortunately dropped for the rest of the matches, but the pocket dynamo was well and truly the jaan of the team. Insta reels were full of tender moments between Ishman those days and Virat was enjoying every bit of it- as agreed, every bit of PDA between the two boys was compensated in their room to Virat. It was their first Karwa Chauth together - no they weren't married, no neither of them were the wife in their relationship, no they weren't thaat religious to keep vrat for their partners- so it wasn't such a big deal. They had a match to play as well, that day.

Shubman, the ever cheeky one, decided that, if not for a full fledged vrat he would follow a fruit diet that day. The moon had come out and he called for drinks- his partner was batting by his side and his other partner would be getting the drink. It was all quite subtle- he told Ishan to give the bottle to Virat, who took a sip and handed it back to Ishan. Ishan then took a sip and put the bottle to Shubman's lips. Then very deftly Shubman bent down to tie his shoe laces, while brushing his hands on Virat's and Ishan's feet. The whole drama ended with the three of them sharing a banana. Rohit was the only one who saw the events unfold in front of his eyes and understood the significance of it all. "Ab kha le acche se, theek hai?", he told Ishan once he returned to the dressing room. Their insta account was bombarded with reels of the Karva Chauth of Ishman. The King and his boys had celebrated the win and Karva Chauth in the confines of their room, far away from social media- Virat handed over the duplicate keys of his Mumbai home to the boys as his gift.

The World Cup hadn't ended the way they wanted it to, but the memories of their time together were priceless. Virat didn't remember the last time he had so much fun as a group, while also having a great time in his personal life. He and the boys left for Mumbai for a small break before the next series. Surprisingly, none of their families asked for a reason for them not visiting home- they knew the boys needed time together to heal each other from the fall at the final frontier. They couldn't step out much together,so it was couple dates mostly. Virat would take Ishan out for late night dinners, while joining Shubman for early morning breakfasts. Ishan and Shubman had some friends around, who would give them cover while they had a quiet dinner. The only time the three of them stepped out together was for dinner with Rohit- they didn't need to hide in front of him.

Rohit saw Virat so carefree and completely in love with his boys- neither one of them able to keep their hands off each other. He hoped they would stay in love like this and the rest of the world would be kind to them, if and when they came out. For now he was worried about the next IPL season. He would have a cranky Ishan Kishan to manage. The amount of sneaking in and sneaking outs he would have to arrange, around the MIvsRCB and MIvsGT matches, was already giving him a headache. Add to it the calls he was going to get from Virat to complain about how Ishan or Shubman were getting close to someone or the other in the team. But he would do his best to help them out -  this was his best friend and his boyfriends - they deserved the happiness. He only wished someone had stayed by his side like that when his relationship had ran into obstacles.
