She felt the cool breeze of winter slipping through the small cracks of the windows.
Isn't spring suposed to be coming? She thought to herself.
Athena had just awoken from her short slumber when she heard the front door close, her daughter must have arrived back home from school.
Athena slipped out of bed and put on the green robe that hung on the frame of her bed. She made her way down the stairs and expected to see her daughter along with Gabriel's brother, but she surprisingly wasn't.
Michael sat quietly on the floor in the middle of the living room observing the television that had been left on as she slept. She look at him quaintly.
He sensed her presence, "What strange things you humans watch," he mumbled. A re-run episode of Jersey Shore played on the screen.
"Yes, I suppose it's rather strange," she said back and asked, "Where is Phoebe? Did she go to Nolan's house or stay after school?"
"No." He simply answered, eyes still glued to the screen.
"Then where is she?"
"Leviathan's Forest."
Athena looked at him with a mix of fear, shock, anger and disbelief, "What? Why would she been there?"
"Because I left her there."
" Why would you do such a thing?"
"Father told me to."
"Why!?"
He looked over at her, "Could you stop with the 'why this', 'why that' questions?"
She crossed her arms over her chest, "What could she possibly have to do in such a horrible place?"
"Well Father thought it was about time Phoebe should discover herself."
"In a forest of death? Couldn't you have told her what she is?"
"You know it is not my place to do that Athena."
"But she's completely defenseless; you know people don't come back out of Leviathan's Forest, don't you?"
"I'm well aware, but there was no other way to test her potential ability. She has to be able to save herself, if she can't do that then hope is lost for the world."
Athena looked at Michael with confusion, "The world?"
"Yes, the world, some bad things are going to happen but it is not my place to tell."
"Then who's is it?"
"Gabriel."
His name was like a knife going through her stomach, "Don't pull that dumb shit on me Michael, why would he come back after all these years?"
