My mom went off to her night job and I sat in the living room staring at the picture sitting on the coffee table.

“Hey, your old man's pretty hot.”

“Shut up Naomi, I'm thinking.”

She stuck out her tongue at me and disappeared.

Where is my father?

I picked up the photo and examined it closer. The world seemed to light up around him the violets and roses were vibrant with color and the grass and leaves on the trees were greener than I had ever seen in my lifetime. The smallest little Blue Jays and Robbins fluttered around him or were perched on his shoulders and wonderful butterflies circled him. It was beaut-.

My train of thought was shattered by the doorbell ringing.

I slowly got up from the couch and made my way to the front door.

“Phoebe,” Naomi said worried, “Don't open the door I have a bad idea about this.”

“I'm sure it's fine Naomi,” I put my hand on the doorknob and felt a horrible disturbance rack through my body. I instantly released my grip from the handle.

"What was that, Naomi do you know?"

She shook her head. I put my hand on the doorknob once again and felt nothing. I turned it and opened the door. The crisp, cool March breeze flowed right past me and into the house, there was nobody there. Confused, I shut the door and made my way up stairs.

I had a dream that night, well not a dream a nightmare actually.

It started out just fine; I was sitting on soft green grass near a lake watching the gorgeous orange, red, yellow and purple sunset. Some animals passed by me others stopped and stared at me and allowed me to pet them, but then everything went dark.

A hole opened up beneath me and I fell through. Spirits, human and inhuman, were floating around this dark abyss I was falling through. They moaned sorrowfully or let out cries of pain and distress, 'Help me, help me' or 'This is your end' things like that. I covered my ears and closed my eyes for what felt like forever till I hit the floor of the place.

I opened my eyes and uncovered my ears. The floor was damp and cold, all I could see was black, and the wailing souls seemed distant from where I was. I stood up to survey the area with my hands, but I felt something familiar lingering around me.

It was the same presence I felt when I touched the doorknob earlier. I started to hear footsteps approach me. As they got closer I slowly backed away. I back up to point where could no longer move. Fingers, no, claws crawled up my arm. The claws were so sharp small streams of blood started to form where the claws had passed.

"Phoebe," the creature's voice rasped, it smelled like death if death could have a smell, "I've come for you."

Come for me? The creature’s shark like teeth shone through the darkness like precious diamonds put up to the light. I felt something grip my neck and drag me up the wall, my hands went to my neck to try and loosen the suffocating grip, but there were no hands holding me.

"Phoebe Gabriella Lyte, Daughter of Archangel Gabriel, die!" It cackled.

I felt a sharp pain in my stomach, chest, and my head. Something warm was bubbling up my throat and my vision was blurring. The grip was released and my body hit the rock.

"Good riddance little-," The creature's sentence was cut off by a blood curdling scream.

I couldn't see much due to my condition, but I saw a faint bluish purple glow and pair of wings, black wings. Whatever it was it had the other creature in its hands.

"No, forgive me master I-" The voice stopped and I heard and sickening crack followed by a thud.

Another, but somewhat familiar voice spoke, "You know I do not forgive. I do not believe in second chances."

The black winged creature turned towards me and that's when I was shaken out of my dream.

"Phoebe!" My mother screamed.

I opened my eyes and looked at her and I opened my mouth to respond, but blood started to flow out.

"Oh my God, Phoebe do not move I will call 911!" Tears poured out of her eyes as she pulled out her cell phone.

I now felt suffocated and head was throbbing. My heart, I can’t even describe the pain I was feeling. I choked on more of my own bloody mess.

"Phoebe, it's going to be okay," she said lifting me so I was sitting upright on my bed, "The ambulance is on its way."

I gave her one small nod and coughed up blood again. What happened? Was my nightmare actually reality? And Gabriel, my father, is he really an angel?

Yeah, I know, it's really short, but I hope you liked it. (:

My eyes moved up from the man's chest to his face. I couldn't see it. His face was covered with a mop a dark and wavy hair. The man removed the veil completely making the barrier between us. Though I could not see his face he was beautiful. The artist that created him made sure every angle was chiseled perfectly, every flaw chipped away.

His smooth hands slipped under my chin and tilted it up.
