The front door opened again along with the sound of ruffling plastic grocery bags.

"Phoebe," she called, “Is someone here? I see bags.”

I ran to my mom who was now walking into the kitchen.

"Um, yeah."

"Who might this person be?"

"Uncle Michael."

"Uncle Michael?"

"He said he was dad's brother."

She stopped pulling cans out the bag, "Your father's brother..."

I nodded slowly.

"Where is he?"

"Upst-" before I could finish saying the word she ran up faster than I had ever seen her run. Slowly, I followed after her. I crept up to the guest room where the door was left ajar. My mother’s voice was filled with anxiousness and hop when she spoke.

“Will he ever come back?”

“He can only come back when he is allowed by Our Father.”

Why does my dad need permission from his father?

“Why can’t he just leave?”

“The consequences are grave, he would not like to face the risk losing of you and his daughter.”

“It can’t be that bad can it?”

“Gabriel is one of His seven most trusted, he could never betray Him.”

His seven most trusted? Is he referring to the number of siblings his dad trusts the most? Why is there seven? There was a short silence.

She spoke again, “Why are you here anyways?”

“I was sent.”

“Well, obviously,” she said with a sigh, “but why?”

“Phoebe of course.”

Me? He is here for me?

“What do you mean you’re here for Phoebe?”

“It’s time she learned what she is before it’s too late, Phoebe is in danger.”

“What kind of danger?” Her annoyance was replaced with worry

“I mustn’t tell you now, she is listening.”

I could feel his eyes looking at the door as if it were transparent and could see me right through it. I quickly moved from the door and rushed to my room. Confusion coated my mind. How did he know I was there, why am I in danger, where is my father, who or what I am I?

“Phoebe,” Naomi said, “Are you going to finish your homework?”

Broken out of my train of my though I responded, “Um, yeah I-”

Wait, normal people can’t see ghosts. If I’m really not who I think I am she would know.

"Naomi."

"Yes?"

"I am different right?"

"Um, sure I guess?"

"And the fact that I can see you is proof, right?"

"I suppose."

"And after what I've been through there is no way I could be human."

She hesitated for a moment and said, "You are human Phebes."

"I know I'm not Naomi, I've done things that aren't physically possible."
