Emotions
As the late afternoon sunlight streamed through the window, the cozy atmosphere of Billie and Finneas’s home felt almost like a protective bubble around the three of them. They sat together, the earlier excitement of Y/N and Billie finally becoming official still lingering in the air, but now the conversation had turned a bit more serious.
They were lounging on the couch, Billie resting comfortably against Y/N, her hand loosely intertwined with Y/N’s, while Finneas sat across from them, his eyes occasionally flicking between his sister and Y/N with a satisfied smile. There was something about seeing Billie genuinely happy that filled him with pride, and he couldn’t help but marvel at how everything had unfolded between the two of them.
“So,” Billie began after a moment of quiet, her fingers gently tracing circles on Y/N’s hand, “how do you feel about, you know, people finding out about us?”
Y/N’s stomach flipped at the question. She had been dreading the idea of dealing with the public, especially after all the paparazzi drama they had endured recently. The thought of their relationship becoming another talking point for strangers was overwhelming, especially for someone who had always struggled with expressing emotions openly. But as Billie squeezed her hand gently, Y/N felt a surge of warmth and security, something that reminded her she wasn’t in this alone.
“I don’t know,” Y/N admitted softly, her voice wavering slightly. “It’s… a lot.”
Billie nodded, her expression softening. “I get it. It’s a lot for me too. But you don’t have to do anything you’re not comfortable with. We don’t have to rush it.”
Y/N looked down at their intertwined hands, feeling the weight of the conversation. “I just… I don’t want things to change. I don’t want it to feel like… like I can’t just be with you without everyone having something to say.”
Billie’s face softened even more, and she leaned in, pressing her forehead against Y/N’s. “We’ll figure it out together. You don’t have to deal with any of that alone, I promise.”
Y/N nodded, feeling her chest tighten with emotion. She wasn’t used to showing this much vulnerability, but something about Billie made her feel safe enough to let her guard down. And for once, she didn’t feel the need to hide how she was feeling.
Finneas, who had been quietly observing, chimed in with a soft chuckle. “You know, you’re showing more emotion right now than I’ve seen in a while, Y/N.”
Y/N blushed slightly, her eyes flicking over to him. “Yeah, well… I guess I’m not used to feeling like this.”
“Like what?” Billie asked, her voice gentle but curious.
“Happy,” Y/N said quietly, almost like she didn’t want to admit it out loud. “I haven’t felt this happy in a long time.”
Billie’s eyes softened, and she pulled Y/N closer, wrapping her arms around her in a warm embrace. “I’m so glad,” she whispered, her voice full of emotion. “You deserve to be happy.”
Finneas watched the two of them, his heart swelling with pride for both his sister and Y/N. He had seen how hard Y/N had fought through her struggles, how much she had been through, and to see her here, with Billie, finally finding happiness—it made everything feel right.
“I’m so proud of you both,” Finneas said, his voice full of sincerity. “Billie, you’re amazing, and Y/N… you’ve come so far. It’s really something to see.”
Y/N looked over at Finneas, her emotions still raw but her heart feeling lighter than it had in years. “Thanks,” she murmured, a small smile tugging at her lips. “I wouldn’t be here without you.”
Finneas shook his head with a soft smile. “You’re stronger than you think, Y/N. You’ve always been strong. You just needed someone to remind you of that.”
Y/N felt her eyes well up with tears, something she hadn’t expected. She wasn’t used to crying, but it felt different this time. These weren’t tears of sadness or pain—they were tears of relief, of gratitude, and of finally feeling like she belonged somewhere.
Billie reached up and gently wiped away one of the tears that had slipped down Y/N’s cheek. “It’s okay to feel everything,” she whispered, her own eyes glistening with emotion. “You don’t have to hide anymore.”
Y/N nodded, her throat tight with emotion as she leaned into Billie’s embrace. For so long, she had kept her feelings bottled up, afraid of letting anyone see how much she was struggling. But now, with Billie and Finneas by her side, she felt like she could finally let go of some of that weight.
Finneas watched them, his heart full as he saw the connection between his sister and Y/N deepen even more. He knew this wasn’t going to be easy for either of them, especially with the public always looming in the background, but he also knew that they were stronger together. And he would be there for them every step of the way.
“You guys are going to be fine,” Finneas said with a grin, trying to lighten the mood a bit. “Besides, Billie, you’re used to dealing with the public by now.”
Billie laughed softly, still holding Y/N close. “Yeah, but this is different. This is… special.”
Y/N looked up at her, a soft smile playing on her lips despite the tears still lingering in her eyes. “I guess we’ll just have to figure it out as we go.”
Billie nodded, her eyes full of warmth. “Yeah. Together.”
As the three of them sat there, the weight of the world outside seemed a little less heavy. Finneas could see the love and support between Billie and Y/N, and it filled him with a sense of peace. He was so proud of his sister—not just for her success in music, but for the person she was, the person who had been able to bring so much light back into Y/N’s life.
And as for Y/N, seeing her finally opening up, showing her emotions, and allowing herself to be happy—it was a victory in itself.
