A Knick In Time

"I know what's causing your disturbances in time." Bonnie says.
It's been almost a week since I came back from the viking times and I think I've been getting used to living here again pretty well. Although the constant cravings for chocolate pancakes never seem to go away. Not that I'm complaining about that.

I smile gladly at my raven-haired friend. "Thank heavens! This morning, I actually saw Ric and Jenna freeze for a few seconds. It was scary. So, what's the problem? And how do we fix it?"

"Well... basically, the problem is a disturbance in the balance of nature. Sending you back in time and then back to these times again caused quite a whirlwind. A whirlwind that hasn't been balanced out yet. But, good news is, there is a way to regain the balance and fix everything." Bonnie explains.

I breath out in relief. "Thank you so much, Bon. How do we do this?"

"In three days, there's a full moon. I can perform the spell then. Elena," she looks at me poignantly, "the spell will have an effect on you."

"What kind of effect?" I ask.

Bonnie purses her lips. "My ancestors say that you spent seven months in ancient viking times, but didn't even technically skip a single day in our times. For us, it was like you were never gone at all. That's what causes the imbalance. So now, the spell will take seven months away from your time to make up for it and that'll be it."

"Take seven months away... what does that mean, will I... what, travel into the future and disappear for those months or something?" This whole thing is starting to sound really worrysome.

Luckily, my witch friend shakes her head. "No, nothing like that. You will simply... age. Your whole body will age exactly seven months during the influence of the full moon."

"Oh." Huh. I guess this is okay. It's only seven months and it's not like that's going to make a big difference. I won't be going out of it with grey hair already. "Alright." I say, "Is there something I can do to help you prepare?"

"No, not really, but thanks. All you have to do is make it till Friday, then we'll do the spell and after that, everything's going to be fine again." Bonnie assures me.

I nod at her. "Thanks."

"No problem. And by the way, since I was already talking with them, Ayana approached me. She said, you might be interested to hear that Tatia, Haakon and Ayana herself have had great, long lives. Apparently, the wealth that the Mikaelsons left behind was more than enough to provide for them all their lives as well as Haakon's children later on. Tatia never remarried again, but she still had a good life as a wealthy woman, mother and grandmother." Bonnie gives me a warm and somewhat sympathetic smile. I guess she knows of the effect this new information has on me. I'm really happy to hear that, obviously, but it also reminds me that I will never see either of them again. At least not until I die myself, and I don't want that to happen just yet.

Still, I smile back at Bonnie, even if my smile looks probably rather sad. "Thank you."

Turning the time forward for me becomes a rather entertaining occasion for my two best friends, once Caroline finds out about it. Because that's when she steers our attention to something I didn't think about before that. She points out that the spell also means that in only one night, my hair and nails will grow at an immense pace. She makes the suggestion to film everything and immediately, Bonnie is as excited as Caroline and as soon as that is the case, I get excited too.

So now, we're in the kitchen of my house. Jenna and Ric are at the lake house and Jeremy is already asleep or maybe watching a movie in his room. Either way, we're undisturbed. What we're currently doing is preparing some snacks for our 'girls night with magic accent', as Bon and Care call it. Aside from the snacks, those two are aldo preparing Caroline's Ipad, which they are going to use to film the events of tonight.
