It was my dad and McKenzie's anniversary so my amazing father decided to "impress" her by forming a barbershop quartet. Which meant me, Henry, Kelly, Charlotte, and Schwoz had to dress up like something that came out of the 1900s.
My dad blew on his harmonica "And.. five, six, seven, eight!"
"Rayy, this is laaaame!" the five of us sang in unison
"What?" he furrowed his eyebrows
"And we all quiiit." Henry stated normally
My dad stammered "You guys can't quit, come on.. McKenzie's right here, and I told her I'm starting a barbershop quartet."
"Why would you do that." Kelly narrowed her eyes at the man
"Because she said she loves three things: barbershop quartets, good listeners, and.. uh.. I wanna say potatoes? I don't know."
"You don't even know what I like?" McKenzie furrowed her eyebrows as Ally squirmed in her lap
I chucked my hat against my dad, effectively hitting him in the face.
"Why are you so mad?" Henry huffed as he looked down at my annoyed expression
"He made me wear pigtails!" I spat out
"What? You never wore pigtails when you were a little girl?" the older Latina questioned──as if she was expecting me to have a normal childhood.
"No, because when I was a little girl I used to cut my hair short with a dagger."
Everyone stayed silent, looking over to me in concern.
My dad snickered "I remember you gave yourself a nasty bob."
"It was horrible! You looked like a guy!" Schwoz added, chuckling along with my father
"Dude, that's your fault for letting her have a dagger in the first place.." Kelly said, looking back and forth between me, my dad, and Schwoz
"I didn't even know she had a dagger! I had no idea where she got one and how she kept cutting her hair without me knowing." he continued laughing
"I picked it up from the streets." I grumbled, making everyone groan except my dad and Schwoz.
"Of course you did."
"I'm not even surprised."
"How shocking."
"Knew it."
"You know, everytime I start to think that despite everything, you had a somewhat decent childhood, you tell us more crazy things like this." Charlotte stared at me as I smiled innocently at her
