*Evan's POV*

Barty has promised me again. But promises don't seem to meen anything if your boyfriend is a drug addict.

The Slytherin common room is filled with people. Not just Slytherins though, there are Ravenclaws, Gryffindors and even a few brave Hufflepuffs. People are scattered around everywhere, most of them are drinking pretty heavily. People aren't just using alcohol anymore, some of them are reaching for the stronger stuff like weed or even coke and ketamine. For them it's just a fun party drug. But Barty... he can't stop anymore.

I keep an eye on him from across the room, to make sure he's not going too far. Reggie joins me in the corner where I have perfect vision of Barty. ''He's at it again, isn't he?'' He asks me. ''Yeah, I tell him disappointedly. In the beginning it was all fun and games but now it has gone too far. Pandora looks at me with a look of understanding that only makes it worse. ''He really needs help.'' She says softly like she's scared to say it. I bite back the emotion forming inside me. ''Don't you think I know that?'' I snap at her. My voice is harsher than I planned it to be. She flinches before I can stop and think about it. The guild fills me immediately. ''Pandora, I'm so sorr-'' She cuts me off with a quick smile and a squeeze of my arm. I'm feeling even worse than before.

Reggie sighs besides me, his usual calm coldness cracking for just a second. I know he hates seeing Barty like this too. He doesn't say anything. His eyes are following Barty like he's waiting for him to crash. We've seen this way too many times, no matter how many times we watch it nothing changes. It's always the same. At this point we know what's going to happen. But unlike me, he gave up on him a while ago. He doesn't believe there's a way out for him anymore.

''It's eating you up inside isn't it?'' Reggie asks while keeping an eye on Barty too. ''yeah.'' I try to seem less disappointed than I actually am. ''He needs help.'' We both know that he's in too deep to get out himself. ''I'll help him.'' I'm getting defensive. ''Evan...'' He desperately wants to change my mind. ''NO, he's my boyfriend. It's my job to fix him. I can fix him.'' The rage inside me is growing. Not just because Barty has broken his promise again but also because Reggie doesn't believe I can fix him. ''Watch him for me, will you.'' I tell him as I storm of to get something to drink.

I tell myself this will be the last time, the same way I told myself that the last time and the time before that. I'm not sure if I really believe that anymore, or if I'm trying to convince myself that I can still save him. I know deep down that I can't save him anymore and that I never truly could. Maybe Reggie's right, maybe there's no way out him anymore but I don't want to give up if there's a possibility for him to get out. Everyone says Barty needs help but I'm the one who's slowly drowning.

It's hard to make it through the crowed room. I eventually make it to the other side of the room. The side where I've been standing so I could keep an eye on Barty. James joined his boyfriend in the corner. They haven't made it official yet but I'm pretty sure I heard the floorboard cracking last night.

I try to look up to see if Barty is still on the couch he was on but the room is to crowded. When I've made my way over there he's gone. ''Fuck.'' I mutter under my breath. ''Where is Barty?'' I ask to the dude who was sitting next to him. ''Euh... He said he was going on an adventure or something.'' The guy spoke with a slight slur. ''What did he take?'' I ask him slightly more panicked. He hands me a small bag with some white powder, it's nearly empty.

This isn't the first time that he disappeared form a party with no trace. When he uses he has this tendency to disappear. Eventually I'll find him somewhere in the castle. ''For Merlin's sake.'' I mutter as I make my way to the exit.
