It had been several long hours, but finally, the Wakandan jet touched down at the medical facility nestled within the heart of their homeland. Amari expertly piloted the sleek craft, bringing it to a soft landing on the brightly lit platform. The familiar scent of warm earth and the sight of the lush landscape was a welcome contrast to the icy Siberian wilderness they had left behind.
Amari turned to Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes, both of whom had remained silent for most of the journey, still processing the events of the day.
"We're here," she said, her voice calm but with a hint of relief. "Let's get you both checked out."
The men followed her as she led them inside the medical facility. The soft hum of Wakandan technology greeted them as the doors slid open, revealing a clean, modern space where two medics were already waiting.
Amari glanced over her shoulder. "The medics will do a quick checkup on your wounds. After that, Sergeant Barnes, I'd like to properly wrap up what's left of your arm. I'll also make sure rooms are prepared for you both—it's been a long day, and we all need rest. Tomorrow, we can discuss the next steps."
Steve nodded in gratitude. "Thank you for your help," he said sincerely. Amari simply smiled in return.
She directed the men into the room, where the medics ushered them to examination tables. As the two super soldiers were attended to, Amari sent a quick message to Okoye, asking her to organize two rooms for their guests. Though she was part of the Dora Milaje and used to the high-intensity demands of battle, there was something grounding about returning home and taking charge in a different way.
It didn't take long for Barnes and Rogers to be cleared. They emerged from the medical facility, looking slightly less battered than before. Amari led them toward the labs, next to the medical center within Mount Bashenga, where Shuri was likely deep in her work.
The moment they entered the lab, Amari spotted her younger sister hunched over a workbench, entirely absorbed in whatever new project had her attention. The familiar sight brought a fond smile to Amari's face.
"Umqolo wakho awuyi kuwuxabisa ukuba uhlala uhleli ngolo hlobo," Amari teased lightly. Your back won't appreciate it if you keep sitting like that.
Shuri looked up, her face lighting up with a wide smile. She practically bounced over to her sister, pulling her into a tight hug.
"Dade, ubuyile!" Shuri exclaimed, her voice bright with excitement. Sister, you're back!
Amari returned the hug warmly, the stress of the day melting away, if only for a moment. When they pulled back, she gestured toward Steve and Bucky, who stood just behind her.
"Shuri, I'd like you to meet Captain Steve Rogers and Sergeant James Barnes. Captain, Sergeant—this is my sister, Princess Shuri."
Shuri, ever the curious one, looked them both over with sharp, inquisitive eyes. She gave them a welcoming smile but was clearly more intrigued by Bucky's missing arm. Amari could already see the wheels turning in her mind as she considered how she might help.
"I'll catch you up later," Amari said, cutting through the moment. "I need to take them upstairs so I can get a proper look at Bucky's arm. The damage needs to be dealt with before it gets worse."
With a final smile and nod from Shuri, Amari guided them to the upper level of the lab. There, in a more private and quiet workspace, she directed Barnes to sit on an examination table.
"Let me see the arm again," she said, her tone professional as she rummaged through the nearby drawers for the tools she'd need. She pulled out a set of precise cutting instruments and various bionics tools before turning back to him.
