As Oreo and King woke up the next day, they were still in their makeshift tent setup, surrounded by empty snack wrappers and half-finished drinks. The sun filtered in through the opening of the tent, casting a soft glow over their relaxed faces. Oreo stretched lazily, blinking the sleep out of her eyes before glancing at her phone.
"Crap, I forgot to call my mom," she muttered, nudging King who was still half-asleep next to her.
"Mmm... five more minutes," he grumbled, rolling over and pulling the blanket over his head.
Oreo laughed softly, grabbing her phone and dialing her mom. As the phone rang, she glanced at King, who was slowly waking up.
"Hey, Mom!" Oreo chirped when her mom finally picked up.
"Oreo! How's it going? You two enjoying yourselves?" her mom's voice sounded cheerful on the other end.
"Yeah, it's been awesome. We're parked by the beach, had a little movie night in the tent last night. You know, just relaxing. King's been his usual chill self, of course," Oreo said with a smile, casting a glance at King, who was now sitting up, rubbing his eyes.
Her mom chuckled. "I'm glad you're having fun, sweetie. Just remember to keep checking in, okay? You know how I worry."
"Yeah, yeah, I will," Oreo reassured her, rolling her eyes playfully. "We're doing good, promise."
After a few more exchanges, Oreo hung up, feeling light and happy. She looked over at King, who had finally fully woken up and was stretching. He gave her a small nod before standing up to head into the hotel room attached to their spot by the beach.
"I'm gonna grab some water. You want anything?" King asked as he stepped out of the tent.
"Nah, I'm good," Oreo replied, waving him off.
King wandered into the hotel room they were using for showers and occasional breaks from the outdoors. As he stepped inside, something on the bed caught his eye—Oreo's undergarments. They were casually lying there, forgotten from when she had changed into her onesie the night before. King walked over, staring down at them for a second before picking them up with a raised brow.
He walked back outside, holding the items in his hand. "Uh... do these belong to you?" he asked, holding up the undergarments.
Oreo's eyes widened, a flush of heat creeping up her cheeks as she realized what he was holding. She immediately blushed, feeling her face go hot. "Oh... uh, yeah, those are mine," she said quickly, reaching out to take them from him.
King handed them over without much thought, his expression neutral. "You forgot them inside. Thought you might want them back."
Oreo's mind was racing as she took the undergarments from him, wondering if he realized she wasn't wearing any at the moment. She glanced at him, trying to gauge if he noticed, but King's face remained the same—calm, unreadable, like always.
"Thanks," Oreo mumbled, trying to keep her cool.
"No problem," King replied, turning to grab a bottle of water from the cooler. He didn't seem to think much of it, but Oreo couldn't shake the awkwardness of the moment.
She quickly stuffed her undergarments into her bag, her heart racing a little. *Does he know I'm not wearing anything under these shorts?* The thought made her blush even more, but she brushed it off, not wanting to make things awkward.
King, oblivious to her thoughts, sat back down next to her, cracking open his water bottle. "You ready for the day?" he asked casually, as if nothing had happened.
Oreo cleared her throat, trying to compose herself. "Yeah, totally. Let's do this."
And with that, the moment passed, leaving Oreo still wondering if King had caught on—or if he was just too nonchalant to care. Either way, they were back to their usual banter, the awkwardness fading as they prepared for another fun day.
