Deans POV: Nobody would ever understand how it was that night. I always thought after living with my dad nothing worse could ever come my way. Little did I know that tragedy couldn't describe in words what has waited for me. It was hot outside today. Not quite as hot as it was three years ago when it happened. „If she comes out of her room today you better be nice to her" Judd carried out his self-made lemonade to the terrace where I was sitting. „I'm always nice" I answered in return. „Dean I know you are nice but you also know that to smile can actually help sometimes" He handed me one of the two glasses with a trying smile on his face. „Ok" I grunted and took a sip. It wasn't a coincidence he made this lemonade today and his craving for actually proactively seeking a conversation with me just showed me again... he knew what date it was. „I think she is on the roof she really seems to like this place up there. Reminds me of two other girls who loved to hide from the world" The last sentence was more to himself and I knew well enough not comment on it but it still sent chills down my spine. I could see them sitting up there. I can imagine how it was like. „I'll talk to her. What was her name again?" I stood up and made my way inside when Judd answered. „Her name is Lia" Clever girl. „Definitely not her real name. I mean it almost sounds like Liar" I commented and didn't turn around anymore. I hated heights. One of the only things I really feared. I never liked them but I agreed with Judd, having a friend would actually be nice. I went up the stairs and knocked on her door. No responses. I knocked again. „Come in" Her voice was steady, almost as if she would make fun of me. I stepped in. Her room was more a mess than my was. Maybe we could actually become potential friends. I couldn't see her anywhere but her window was open. So Judd must've been right, she was on the roof. Ok now was time to pretend I was cooler than I actually was. „I'm on the roof" She stated what I already knew. Great. I put my hands the windowsill and looked carefully outside. „Hey I am Dean" I said trying not to freak out. This house was higher than I thought. „Thats true but your voice says also another story." With all of my strength I try to step outside. „Are you afraid of heights?" She doesn't sound judgy just a bit amused. „Maybe" I answered without letting go of my view. „You definitely are." Two seconds later she jumped down from her spot and gave me her hand. „Here. Trust me" She had long black hair and the way how she was so comfortable with her balance almost reminded me of a cat. She was wearing seethrough nail polish though which showed me she is still hiding more than she wants to admit. Something in me trust her and then I find myself of the top of the roof. „I'm Lia" She lets go of my hand and scans me from up and down. „You detect lies" I repeat what Judd told me yesterday. „And I can lie perfectly" she swings her hair and smilies at me. „So what is your story?" I tried to make conversation which definitely wasn't as casual as it was intended to be. „Why don't you start with this ? And I tell you mine" What she doesn't say is she might still be lying so I decided to start with a more shocking fact rather than my maybe even similar level shocking backstory. Even though I this girl does not look like something might really shock her. „Today a few years ago. Somebody I really cared about got murdered and my entire life fell apart for the second time" There it was. The thing neither Judd or I were able to speak out. „I'm here because my only other option was juvie. But who died. Tell me more" She would have gone to juvie? Where the hell did Tanner find her? „You know Briggs the FBI Agent ?" Lia nodded and started to play with her dark hair. „Yes. He is fit for an Agent and not even that old I think" Interesting way of answering. „He kind of adopted me with his wife. Ex wife when I was twelve" Lia jumped up as if we were not on a deadly high roof right now. „You are family with this Agent guy? Thats so weird" I nodded. „Was family. Well his and his wife best friend she was really nice. Taught me a lot. Was always there for me. The closest ever got to real family. She also worked for the FBI. She got murdered today three years ago." It was crazy how time flies by. Lia sat down again. „How? And why? I have the feeling that is why you ended up here" She was kind of right. I didn't talk with anybody about what happened in years. It almost felt like doing something forbidden. „The knew something she wasn't supposed to know. Somebody poisoned her. Briggs Ex wife found her. It was too late. It teared the family apart and now I'm here" It wouldn't been fair to tell her how I will never forget those images in my head. How V came home. Wearing the FBI clothes because her own were trenched in her best friends blood. How she was so unresponsive that she merely made it into her bed. How she didn't move, eat or drink anything for weeks. How Tanner desperately tried to get her out of shock until his screams were the only thing echoed through the house. How there was no food in the fridge for days and how much they fought when V was slowly getting better. How she ran and never spoke a word with us again. How Tanner gave me away to Judd. How Judd had to get out of his alcohol addiction because of me living with him. „I was part of a cult. Had to kill somebody to get out and now I'm here" It could have been all a lie but I could sense that Lia and I could count on each other. It was just a feeling I had the moment she helped me up this roof.
A little different scenario I hope you guys enjoyed it.
