Wooyoung wakes up in his bed. His head is throbbing and so many images spin around his mind as he blinks the sleep away. The day has started outside, sign it's past eight in the morning, but by the fact that Yeosang is still here next to him, cuddled with a pillow, it means his classes start later during the day. He sits up, rubbing one eye a little too aggressively to the point he tears up just a little. So many things have happened in the span of not even a full day and all the images that fill up his mind do not feel real at all. He remembers his talk with San on the balcony during the night, and his chest can't help but tighten as their conversation repeats itself in his head.
It feels wrong and weird at the same time, to reconnect with the man he has managed to break apart seven years ago, who suffered so much because of him. He should refuse, he should not accept this offer, he should ban his heart from wanting his best friend back after so long. He should not allow himself to hurt San even more than he managed to do in the past, it's just not fair for him at all. San deserves to be happy, he deserves someone better than him in his life, and despite feeling warm and home few hours ago, Wooyoung is in the middle of a big conflict. He feels very cold all of a sudden. He wants him back, as a friend only, nothing more because, even if he wished something would still be there between them, he knows any feelings that were present seven years ago are long dead. His own feelings for San are no longer alive, but it's the desire and longing to have his best friend back that annoys him a lot.
He really shouldn't, for their own good. For San's sake, to save him from an unwanted misery.
Yet...
He runs his fingers through his hair and sighs as he pushes the blanket off and steps out of the warmth and coziness of the bed. Yeosang shifts just a little, but he does not awake. Wooyoung walks towards the window and looks outside. It's a nice January morning, with a cool sun being blurred by the clouds, but by the looks of it, he doubts it will snow or rain today. Still, it is time for him to get out of his house after so many days. He should go to the rink, practice a little, get back into shape by the time Seonghwa and Mingi arrive. He's curious how the interview went. Mingi is a charmer after all, so, for his fanbase, this appearance in front of the cameras will blow up the internet in the following month. Wooyoung can't say the same. He knows he has fans, lots of them in the country and around the world, but he likes his privacy, he doesn't necessarily enjoy being in the public eye for too long. He's not like Mingi or San, who do post sometimes and interact with fans even a little when it's the case. Wooyoung, on the other hand, is too busy obsessing over this sport to even pay attention to himself.
Sometimes, he wonders why people still support him, why they watch him on Tv when competitions arrive, why they cheer for him, why they like him. He's never in the spotlight unless he's in the middle of competitions which force him into interviews and interactions.
He finds himself an unlikable person, really, yet people tend to keep glued to him all the time.
Silent as a cat, he walks over to the door and opens it with a deaf squeak. It's quiet in the rest of the apartment, dead quiet and when he looks in front at Mingi's room, he sees the door open, just like he left it few hours ago. Wooyoung yawns as he walks towards the living room. The Tv is shut off and San is still asleep on the couch. He should have slept in Mingi's bed, it's not like the younger would have minded. He wouldn't have known in the first place. Wooyoung proceeds to take few steps towards the couch. He stops some meters away from it, but he stares at the sleeping man for a minute. Almost half of San's face is covered by the blanket, but he spots the bright red strands of hair falling all over the pillow. He's pretty much buried underneath the blanket, but for some reason, the sight warms Wooyoung just enough. But it's also a bittersweet feeling, in a weird way, to see him like this, so comfy inside his home, as if nothing really happened between them, when in reality, so much has happened and changed.
