The Last Day of Summer and Why We Dread School

Twenty three hackers, seventeen cults, ten masterminds, eleven serial killers, six crazy kidnappers, eighteen monsters/aliens/robots/stuff like that destroying the world, and nineteen end-of-the-world-prophecies.

Yup, that's a lot of things that we, as in, I (the narrator for this chapter) aka Aria, Ruby, Zoe, Evelyn, Claire, and Lilith, prevented. That's one-hundred-and-four times we saved the world. Did we get credit? Nope. The MCs (main characters) did. Heck, Ashley and Dew died too, but did they get credit?

Nope. They didn't even get a mention of their name in an article. It was just labeled "civilian casualty" blah blah blah in the articles.

We learned to take it in good spirits.

The world, I think, has some fixation with us dying nobly and stuff. "A good book can't be a good book without someone dying" is the saying in our group. And that's why, for the last ten years, we stuck together closer than glue, never leaving each other, when we get shipped to - ahem, arrived at Drewberry Academy, for K-12, after Summer. It's kind of a safety in numbers thing.

Before you complain about school, at least you don't have to deal with a new MC almost every few months, depending on how long the plot is, every school year. It tires you out, and also, how can you expect to get A+ when half the time you're hanging in some person's basement, hoping you aren't going to die before the rest of the group finds you?

It's the reason why we implanted trackers in us and learned multiple skills for survival. We all have some basic skills handed to us for SC (side character) life, for example, I'm that rich, smart, and lock-picking Asian girl. But then again, when we aren't so sure if someone in our group is going to die, it's better to know all the skills.

Any one of us knows how to hack, code, lock-pick, flirt (yes, it's for survival sometimes, like in Jumanji), use a gun and knife and bow and arrow and any weapon you can name, get out of bonds, and identify any plant/animal and their use. Also, using my rich-people connections, the rest of the group is as rich as heck if something ever happens to me.

I know, this was just a rant, but I'm pretty sure we've all gone through some period in life where we thought we were the MC only for poof, the real MC appears.

Anyways, back to this chapter's title (the fourth wall is officially broken and will stay like that): it's the last day of Summer. We're unhappy.

We can survive texting each other miles away in different parts of the country/world, but the moment we're back in Drewberry Academy, we're going to be b-u-s-y. In an hour, I'm going to take a plane ride to Drewberry City, and I think Zoe, Ruby, and Lilith are already on their flights. The only good thing about Drewberry Academy is that It's a boarding school, that's probably the only reason we're still alive... it allows us to stick together everywhere and anywhere. I bribed a few people to let us all room together in the largest room available, and also share the same schedule.

It's like what I think college is like, if we ever survive that long.

But we have good reason to especially dread this year's school year... we're going into 9th grade.

Here's a crash course: in Elementary, we have the cute children's books and stories about growing up. Then again, towards the end, we had a lot of crazy plots. In Middle (or Secondary), it's a bit more serious. Like that's when PJO and HP takes place. You get the vibe. Way, way, more dangerous.

Now High School... if you have ever read a book, you will know that high school = death. That's when apocalypse stuff takes place, and all the things with death in it. Literally. Then again, there are those stories about these two high schoolers falling into a (deadly) romance, but the chance that it doesn't end like Romeo and Juliet (or Pyramus and Thisbe) is 0%. Nada. At least in Middle School we didn't have to worry about who we date.

So we dread school.

I'm sitting by my pool, my non-existent parents in another conference halfway across the world. Just tapping on my phone, or texting on our app. You don't know how many times I had to get everyone new phones because someone hacked into them. This app was coded by all of us, and we all tried hacking it simultaneously (it didn't go through), so we know that it's safe. Plus, it shows where our phone, clothes trackers, and body tracker is. That's kinda great. The only downside is when we walk through security stuff and it goes off. We had to improvise, using silicon and other things I'm not going to bore you with. Point is, now our trackers are basically invisible to detectors and scanners.

Other than that, the app is mostly like Messages.

Group Chat Snippet ---

How did y'all like it??? First chapter, down!!!

I think my favorite part was the snippet of their group texting... what about yours??????????

I honestly just LOVED, LOVED, LOVED writing the whole thing, I literally put a decade's worth of reading and noticing in their... my English teachers would be proud if they ever see this (English is my first language).

Did I go overboard? Also share some ideas for some stuff they should do ---->

Hehe, anyways, luv y'all (platonically)!!!
