Hello, my name is Claire.
I'm not exactly your normal American shy kid. I would much rather nobody talk to me at all, because I can do just fine without them.
And this is starting to sound like an interview. Are you interviewing me? Oh wait, you are not asking me any questions, I'm just rambling, monologuing.
So I'm on my flight, trying to finish The Notebook (it's great, just really sad), and I'm thirty minutes from the end when the person behind me taps on my shoulder. To be honest, that kind of worries me, because either the person is our new MC, or I'm the new MC. I don't like either possibility.
Can I just finish The Notebook in peace?
I whip around, my red hair (which I dyed, thank you very much), swishing this way and that.
"Yes?"
I honestly really just want to say, "Hi, yes, what do you want? Oh, you just wanted to tap my shoulder. Oh okay, bye!" And whip right back around, but that's not me. I'm not going to waste my words. So I waited patiently leaning against my cat travel pillow, waiting for the - oh crap, it's a boy!
No... he looks my age.
Freak, did I really just become a MC? After living as an SC for most of my life, I need preparation! At least give me a damn crash course. Oh wait, I can make my own crash course:
Crash Course for MCs
1: One, you must choose one of the following options as an MC: a sarcastic one, a everybody-hates-them one, a everybody-likes-them one, a leader one, etc. There's a lot.
2: You have to stick to that type, but break down when the plot wants you too, and depend on your Best Friend SC.
3: Always trust your instincts. Always.
And that's technically everything.
I patiently continue to wait for his answer, thinking about how much more I can binge watch The Notebook if he just hurried up.
"Um, I was just wondering if you have some spare headphones. It's a long flight."
I look at him - fine, glare, at him, and just roll my eyes. I'm about to say no and go back to what I was doing, aka get back to watching The Notebook, but then I realized that's a sarcastic MC. I do not want to be an MC.
Like, no, I'm sorry, I'm not going to be like Percy Jackson (or Sophie Foster) and die almost every day. I'm fine with my SC life, almost dying every month. At least I have a one month break.
I massage my shoulders and hand over my headphones.
No story I've ever (binge) read had the MC just give her headphones away. I just dodged a bullet!
"Thanks," he muttered. I wanted to cup my ear and ask him to repeat his almost inaudible thanks. But that is also a MC thing, so I just nodded and decided to watch The Notebook with no sound.
You get used to it after a while. I swear, I'm not exactly happy giving away my only pair of headphones, but it doesn't really matter. I've watched videos a lot without sound, especially in class. The whole group, except Zoe, rolled their eyes. They helped shield me from the teacher and Aria once paid off a teacher to not give me detention. Then, the other time, Lilith just hacked in and deleted our detention notes because Aria had fallen asleep and we didn't want to wake her up.
Okay, now, he's tapping on my shoulder. Again. Some people just do not get it that I don't like socializing with them and that they should just take the hint and maybe even keep the headphones? Oh wait, I didn't act like I didn't like socializing with him. Oh well, my fault
"Here's your headphones. Thanks. Oh, and my name is Jason. Holland. Jason Holland." I look at him, dark bangs and all, and nod.
Then a flight attendant comes around, and gives me that fake smile, bending a bit so I can see the choices she is holding in front of me. "Would you like anything, ma'am?"
"Coffee, please. No snacks."
She gracefully takes the coffee stuff, pours it, and hands it to me in a tiny cup. I flick the sides a few times, something I just do, and drink it without even blowing.
And great, now my tongue has a burn.
It's settled; I don't like fights (especially considering the fact that I decided to take economy).

I know, shorter than the last one. I'll make it up to y'all.
I can see Jason's face right now. It's making me laugh. He's probably like ???? but also "Thank you that I appeared."
Yes, Ruby, we needed him :)
And the books are some stuff I just looked up and/or read.
Did I do Claire well (feel free to go back to the cast for her bio)???
Anyways, this is just so fun. And I'm flooded with character bios XD... too many characters. And The Notebook is such a great story tbh. I was smiling like an idiot at some points. I felt so sorry for her fiance, also. He must be a pretty great guy to be like that.
Lastly, thanks for all the love by my devoted / loyal / beautiful / handsome / smart / wonderful / whatever-is-a-compliment-for-you readers :)
