Mobius Reborn Book Two: Journy to Candridge

Chapter one

I head over to Ellex's to give her an update on the new scouts I've been looking after. They are a good group you could say. All three of them have their own strong point, but seem to work great together. They need more training and some real life experience before they begin to scout harder stuff. As I walk up to Ellex's I see a light in her room. I knock on the door and I get no answer. So I knock again and finally someone starts turning the doorknob. Ellex opens the door and shes in a dark blue nightgown and her hair is messed up. She hadn't fully realized I was standing there until I made a coughing sound and she jumped.
"Jade...." she let's out a yawn and stretches.
"Come on in..." she says lazily walking away from the door. I must have woke her up...I guess I forgot how late scout training lasted. She motions me to sit down on a chair and she pours a cup of coffee.
"Want some?"
"No...I'm good thanks. I didn't mean to wake you...I'll come back later." I say starting to stand.
She takes a drink of her coffee and shakes her head.
"Don't worry about it...if it was important enough to come at this hour there's no need to wait to tell me. Plus...I...couldn't sleep so some company is nice ya know?"
She looks down at her coffee as she says those last words. I couldn't help but chuckle at her.
"Lex...you really don't talk to people much do ya?"
She looks up at me and she lets out a sigh.
"You and that name...I swear I don't know why I try to get you to stop staying it."
"Does that mean...I can finally call you that! "
She cuts me a look and starts laughing at me. Then she sets her coffee down and stands up.
"In your dreams Jade!" She yells and knocks me in the head really hard.
"Ouch...why...."
"For the last time...my name is Ellex!"
Geez...she can never take a joke. But...thats what makes her...her. I can't help but smile and she cocks an eyebrow at me.
"Something funny, or did I hit you to hard?" She says that with a mix of sarcasm and concern.
"No...I was just thinking. Any ways the scouts are doing excellent. In time they can start missions."
"So it would seem...there's just one thing...they have to do it without you..."
"I'm aware of that...and I've had them plan accordingly. All thats left to do is for you to sign off on them..." I pull out a piece of paper and hand it to her. She looks at it and sets it down.
"I'll get to later."
I stand up to leave and she walks with me to the door.
"Thanks for stopping by Jade..."
She grabs my hand and looks at me before letting go. I smile at her...she makes it to easy to tell what she feels. She never says anything but we both know it.
"See ya round, Lex..."
Her eyes get wide and she starts towards me.
"Why you..."
I run out and trip over my own feet and smack my face against the ground. She busts into laughter and runs over to help me up. I grab her hand and pull her down. She falls next to me and lands with a thud. I roll over and pin her down. Any time we fight she always wins but now I have the upper hand.
"Ha! I got you!"
She smiles and grabs my arms.
"Oh really..."
She pushes me over my head and I land on my back. Next thing I know she rolls over on top of me and pins me down. "I thought you said you had me Jade?"
I just lie there and then I realize how close we was to a hill. I grab her and roll over the hill and we both tumble down it. We land at the bottom and she lays on top of me on accident. I look up at her and we meet eyes. She stares at me for a second before her face blushes and she stands up.
"I...I believe thats game...I win." She says helping me up. She helps dust me off and I see she has dirt on her face. I wipe it off and she grabs my hand...
"Ellex?"
She puts her hand on my shoulder and leans in and kisses me on the cheek. Her face is cherry red and I feel mine start to blush and she realizes what she just did.
"I...I'm sorry...I didn't mean to...oh god...Embers gonna kill me..."
"Ellex...it's...alright...besides no one else is up yet. Lets just say it didn't happen." I smile at her and she looks down.
"Thanks...Jade."
