Mobius Reborn Book Two: Journy to Candridge

Chapter twelve

As we leave the dinner we turn left on to the main road heading towards a forested part of Candridge. Every few minutes Echo looks down at her wrist to this devise she has. I asked what it was but, she said I'd be to confused to really know. To me its a compass to her...only she knows. We follow her to this big opening and she sits down on a rock.
"What are you doing?"
"I say we have about an hour to kill before we hide. Tell me Jade...who's the girl in your locket?"
I reach down and open it revealing her picture for the first time.
"How did you..."
She grins.
"You made it easy to guess. Your reaction to me acting like I adore you when we first met, the way you carry yourself when you walk, and the way anytime you feel un-easy you hold onto the locket."
I stare at her in awe. I turn to Sirus and he just shrugs.
"What can I say Jade. She knows her stuff."
I turn back to her and she crosses her legs and puts her hands to her face.
"Well....who is she?"
"H-Her name's Ember..."
"Thats a pretty name. Does she like you?"
"Well we are together..."
She frowns at this.
"Why the hesitation afterwards?"
"What?" Did she somehow notice something I didn't feel myself do?
"Some thing...no...some one else likes you too!"
"How...do you..."
"Heh, spend enough time alone and some things just sorta stick ya know?"
"I...I guess thats true..."
"I guess the "Hero of Talon" is a real ladies man huh?"
"No I'm not! I mean...yes there are two people that like me...and yes I like them too but..."
I couldn't catch it before I said it. I...guess I do like Ellex as well..I just never really...noticed it. I realize what I said and try to correct my self but its too late.
"You do? I thought you liked her?"
"I do! I mean...I'm with her and that's who I want..."
"There it is again...that hesitation."
"Anyway...whats up with you and Sirus?"
Sirus cocks an eyebrow at me.
"What are you asking?"
"I mean...are you too..."
Both of there faces blush.
"No. We're not!"
Echo says flying up from her seat.
"I'm sorry?"
"It's quite alright Jade. We...are sort of like brother and sister. Shes helped me and I've helped her."
Echo walks over to him and slings her arm around his neck as she stands beside him.
"I've saved him more times then he can even make up for!" She says flicking her nose again and stricking a grin. A ringing noise comes from her wrists and she jumps. She fixes her eyes on the watch type thing and grins.
"Time to hide and wait."
"I thought you said we had an hour? It's been like fifteen minutes?"
"Did I say that? Woops, I guess I was wrong!"
She heads over to a tall tree and climbs to the top of it before motioning for Sirus and I to climb up. We all three have a vantage point of the field we were just in. As long as we don't make a sound we will be well hidden here.
"Look...to the left." Echo says whispering in my ear. I look over to see two Meta-bots escorting a white hedgehog to the center. He stands there as a gray wolf wearing the same clothes as Sirus begins to move towards him they shake hands before heading to the rocks we were at. I can't hear them speak, but Echo appears to be hearing just fine.
"Here..put these in. I bugged the spot they are at so we could listen in."
I put in this ear piece that wraps around my ear. I hear the white hedgehog speak and ny heart drops. This...was Silver.
