Chapter ten

I walk over to her and sit down against the other side of the pole.
"So...you're Echo?"
"Yep, Echoes my name and fixin stuff is my game." She says flicking her nose with her thumb again.
"Well...where do I sign up?"
"What?"
"For the freedom fighters? That is why you are here...right?" She steps back nervously. Oh please don't run off again.
"Yes....that's exactly why I'm here."
She lets out a sigh and stands in front of me. She has to be at least two years younger then me. She puts her hands on her hips and bends down towards me.
"Well what are we waiting for?"
I sit there for a second, not because I'm still tired, but because of something she asked. She knocks ontop of my head like it was a door.
"Hello...is anyone there?"
I stand up and she crosses her arms and taps her foot.
"Geez emerald boy I'll be your age by the time we get going! Come on!"
"Hold up."
She tilts her head to the side and gives me a confused look.
"What is it now?"
"What is the other reason I would have come for you?"
She sighs and looks out towards the town.
"So you caught that eh?"
"Yea...you made it obvious through your reaction while asking. So...what else would it be."
"I...may know of someone who...knows where Silver is..."
I step back. She just keeps on surprising me.
"Really! W-Who!"
"Sirus..." she says turning to me.
This was exactly what I needed. Not only did I need her she knows Sirus!
"Where is Sirus?"
"Why do you ask!"
"Well...you see..."
"No matter what you think he has done I won't let you hurt him!" She clinches her fists and stands ready to fight.
"What in the world are you talking about!" She relaxes and realizes she did it again.
"Here recently...he has been blamed for all sorts of things. Theft, kidnapping, you name it he's been blamed for it."
"Well...he is a mercenary leader."
"But he's not like the rest! He's...good. any profit he makes goes to helping Candridge. He only takes jobs as a bounty hunter."
"Well there must be a reason someone is blaming him."
"I...may know why...I believe that he is being framed by one of his senior members. Tyrus."
"Why do you think that?"
"I...have this gut feeling...and I've never been wrong before."
I sigh and look over to where she was facing. The town is really busy. People rushing to and fro. You can barely tell there is a war going on here. I look over to her and put my hands on the back of my hands.
"You hungry?" I say grinning at her.
"What...are you asking me to..."
My face blushes as I realize she miss understood the reason I asked.
"I was just asking if you was hungry! Nothing else!"
"Way to be a buzz kill..."
I raise my eyebrow at her.
"What do you mean?"
"Oh...I don't know...it's not every day a girl gets asked to go eat with the "Hero of Talon". Can a girl not dream?"
"I...I..."
She bursts into laughter.
"Relax...I was just pulling your leg. Besides your not my style."
"Is that so?"
Now she raises her eyebrow at me.
"Well...yea...your not...adventurous enough."
"If you say so..." I say turning back. I just so happened to notice a light pole across the block from the building we was on. I run and jump over the building and grab hold of the pole and slide down. I notice she is looking over the building.
"I'll race you to the dinner!"
"Hey that's not fair!" She says jumping over the building and gliding to me. We start running and we cut through an alley. There's a fence blocking our path to the dinner. She starts climbing it and I realize she will climb over it before me. I smile and activate my powers and run up the wall and over the fence. I meet her gaze and cock a grin as I pass her and and return to normal as I reach the dinner door. She stops and her jaw drops. I wave to her as I walk in and I notice everyone inside has there jaw dropped as well. I rub the back of my head embraced.
"Oops...."
I walk to my corner booth as everyone watches me. I hide my face in the menu as a wait for Echo. She knocks the menu out of my hands.
"What kind of crap was that!"
"Still think I'm as dull as before?" I say grinning.
"Absolutely not." She says sitting down with me.
