Next, I headed to a vendor who specialized in potions and elixirs, An alchemist as they were generally known as.  He was a middle age man, lean and a few inches taller than I was.

“Hello can I have a few potions?”

“Yes you can, just pick the ones you want from this list” he said

He gave me a list of potions

“You’ve got a good list here, Mr alchemist, can i try one of to see how effective it is?” i asked  him.

He brings out one vial with pinkish liquid.

“Here, this is a Mana restorer, try it.” He hands me the vial.

I then took a sip of the Mana Restorer, the feeling of a rush in my body confirmed its potency.

My MP returned back to full.

“These potions are really good ones,” I said, a smile spreading across My face.  “I’ll collect 10 Restorative Tonic, 20 Revitalizing Elixir, 10 Health Vial, 20 Magical Energizer, 50 Mana Restorer, 20 Energy Boost, 20 Mana Enhancer, 6 Magical Augment, 30  Energy Tonic, 10 Mana Accelerator, 30 Mana Replenisher, and 20 Mana Revitalizer.”

The alchemist, his bushy eyebrows raised in surprise, chuckled. “You've got a good eye for quality, my friend!  A discerning palate, indeed.”  He tapped his chin, then nodded. “Excellent choices.  You've got a keen understanding of the finer points of potion crafting.  Let me see...  Ten Restorative Tonics, twenty Revitalizing Elixirs, ten Health Vials, twenty Magical Energizers...”

He began to meticulously collect the potions, humming a tune as he worked,  his fingers moving with practiced ease. “Fifty Mana Restorers, you say?  Good choice, especially if you're planning on a long spell-casting session.  They'll keep your magical reserves topped off.”

He paused, his gaze twinkling with amusement. “Twenty Energy Boosts, twenty Mana Enhancers, six Magical Augments, thirty Energy Tonics... now you're talking!  A well-rounded collection, perfect for any adventurer.  And those Mana Replenishers and Revitalizers,  they'll keep your mana flowing like a river.”  He winked, a mischievous glint in his eye. “Don't forget, a little boost now and then is always a good idea, even for the most experienced mages.”

He placed the potions into a sturdy leather bag, its straps worn and creased, but clearly well-made.  “There you go,” he said with a satisfied smile. “A fine assortment for any situation.  Let me see... ten Restorative Tonics at twenty copper each makes two hundred copper, twenty Revitalizing Elixirs at fifty copper each makes one thousand copper, ten Health Vials at twenty copper each makes two hundred copper....” He continues until he finishes.
“Everything in total should be 3000 copper pieces.”

He paused,  leaning forward conspiratorially.  “How about a little extra?  I've got some special blends, ones I haven't released to the public yet.  Just for discerning customers like yourself.”

He winked.  “What do you say?”

Intrigued, I leaned closer, my eyes scanning the alchemist's shelves. “Tell me more about these special blends,”I said, a hint of excitement in my voice.

He chuckled, a low rumble that shook his thick beard. “Ah, you've got an inquiring mind, just like I did at your age. Now, these are not for the faint of heart,” he said, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. “They're... well, they're a bit stronger, a bit more potent than your average potion.  They require a delicate balance, a touch of alchemy and a dash of intuition.”

He tapped a finger against his temple. “These are for those who seek a bit more power, a little extra edge in a dangerous world.  Think of them as...  a secret weapon.”

I nodded, my curiosity piqued. “And what kind of effects do they offer?” I pressed.

He leaned in, his eyes sparkling with mischief. “There's the  "Mad Elixir," he said, his voice almost a purr. “It's a blend of botanical extracts and rare minerals. Gives you an incredible boost of strength, stamina, and vitality.  Perfect for a warrior who needs to push themselves beyond their limits.”

He paused, as if savoring the anticipation. “And then there's the ‘Potion of Karamat,’ a potent concoction that enhances your mana capacity and speeds up your magical regeneration.  Great for those who want to unleash a storm of spells without worrying about running dry.” He winked. “Just a little secret, it's been known to give hunters a bit of a  'second wind,' so to speak.”

I swallowed hard, my pulse quickening. “And how much would those special blends cost?” I asked, my voice a little shaky with excitement.

He smiled,  a knowing glint in his eye. “Let's just say, they're worth a lot of coins.  For a beginner hunter like yourself,  the price is negotiable.” He chuckled again, his voice deep and resonant.

“How about 5 gold coins for each?”

I nodded, pleased with his offer.  It was a good price for me.

If it were to be me a few days ago, I'll be unable to get it, but with my coins now, it's already a lot.

I passed the 10 gold coins and 3000 copper pieces to him, which he accepted greedily. I was so tempted to just see what kind of crooked person he was but thought against it.

Whatever he does, isn't my concern. And besides, his potions feels efficient, and most importantly, I am not city guard, so why should I bother?

He goes into his backroom and returns with two bottles, 5 inches tall. One was a crimson liquid with a 'Mad Elixir' tag on it and the other, a forest green color with a 'Potion of Karamat'

“You can only take it a single shot for each one, as it is very powerful. Consuming the full bottle will kill you, except you have a regeneration skill to fight the effects of overdose. And remember, no matter what, you must not mention my name.”

I nodded in agreement, took them both, added them to the others in the leather bag, thanked him and left. Heading to get the next and final items, a new gear.
