Elijah's POV
Coming back from a party completely drunk with my close friends group in the middle of the night was not a thing I could say I was proud of. It was literally past eleven at night, my mum would be asleep right now and my two younger siblings would probably be up in their bedroom, waiting for me to arrive as usual. My mum and dad were divorced but they still lived with each other to make us, their kids, happy though right now, mum was not making me happy by pressing me to date that little shit.
Anyways, my friends give me their goodbyes and luck before leaving me to get into the house. Pushing my key in carefully, I twist it around, trying so hard not to make a noise. Pausing for a second before pushing the door slightly ajar and squeezing into the tiny gap. Shutting the door and locking it, I turn to go to my room, only to jump and yelp as I see a small figure looming behing me.
"Fuck." It was just Ezekiel, one of my younger siblings. He frowns at me and I realise I just swore in front of him.
"Ohh... forget what I just said. Why are you still awake?" I poke him in the chest accusingly making him forget about the earlier scene momentarily as he giggles and blows a raspberry before quietly running up the stairs. Rolling my eyes, I make my way clumsily up the stairs and make my way to my bedroom.
Once I enter the dark room and shut the door behind me, a sickening voice rings in the air, making me turn back to see that filthy rat sitting on my bed like the flea bag she is. She's wearing just a bra and underwear, as she leans on my bed, dirtying it with her vile scent.
"I've been waiting for you baby." She tries to put me in a trance which obviously doesn't work since she's so damn ugly. She realises this instantly and stands up quickly and makes her way to me, moving her hips like a trotting piglet as her heels clank on the hardwood floor. Before she can even touch me, I snatch the baseball bat that rests next to the wardrobe to my left and swing it at her with all the force that my body can muster up.
A loud wail breaks free from her mouth as she subsides onto the hard floor, creaking the planks as she goes down. Within seconds, light illuminate the whole house before someone kicks the door open violently. Before me stands my flabbergasted mother, staring blankly, her skin becoming paper white as she stares down the huddled mess on the ground.
She's crouching on the ground, blood dripping down her head as her face is soaked with tears as the puddle of blood is absorbed into the dark wood. An ear piercing scream is released from my mum and she rushes down to the bloodied, half naked Emily. She looks humiliating, frozen on the ground in such a state and I can't help but smirk at the scene.
Tugging her phone out of her pocket, she begins to dial in a number and waits for them to pick up. As she calls the emergency line, I walk off out of the room. I make my way to the empty guest room and fall asleep once I shut my eyes.*****
"Mmm. That was one good night sleep." As I sit up, I can hardly see a thing. The whole room is swallowed in a bucket of black paint. Rubbing my eyes and stretching my arms over my head, I stand up and get a new towel before going to the bathroom to take a nice cold shower, the moments of last night come back to me. The blood, her cries, the glare my mum gave me.
As the water washes away any remaining memories, I sigh in content. It was strange, high school was coming to an end, prom was coming up and still every girl kept asking me out for prom. Why would they ever think I'd want to go with them when I had a girl that came to me in my dreams every night and never left my side? I mean, even if she wasn't real, she still won my heart which no one had ever accomplished.
*****
As I finish drying myself I stare at my reflection and just as usual, I look the same. Tall and thin, thick long hair, thin slightly pale face but the same.
