The punches came faster and more harder than the one before. I felt helpless, was I seriously that weak? I couldn't even breath anymore, being suffocated and panting heavily for air. Would I be able to save Yulia or was I going to die already? I gasped desperately for air, blood pumping out of my nose and falling into my mouth.
Suddenly, I shot my eyes open. Yulia was still here and could die at any moment. Without thinking, I grabbed the man's hand, saving myself from the next brutal punch, and kicked him straight in the groin so hard, I felt myself crushing his length through my boot. He screamed in pain and fell onto the ground, his body limp and lifeless. Another man came pouncing towards me but I quickly slid onto the side and jumped onto him as he collapsed beside the corpse. I hurled my fists at him, taking out all my anger from before then standing up and spitting the blood out of my mouth and wiping my bloody nose. I took the rifle from him and shot him right in the head ten times, watching with satisfaction as the blood gushed out of his body before stamping on his distorted face and shooting again.
I was back in the fight. As long as Yulia was alive, I would be as well.
More bodies were sprawled out on the road, completely drowned in puddles of their own blood. I shot the men with great ease and made my way further into the battle. Before I could continue shooting, someone screamed my name.
"OI! LIAM! WE FOUND HER!" I turned around and saw Red screaming and waving at me and gesturing to the distant figures huddled together as one rubbed the others back. Yulia was crying. I knew she didn't love me but I still did, I wanted her to be safe. I ran towards Red and saw Sam with him. I gestured for him to lead the way and he gladly did. As we approached them, I saw the same guy comforting Yulia as she cried a puddle of tears.
He kept touching her and I felt a pang of jealousy as she allowed him to help her up. He helped her up and began guiding her to a car, he was taking her away. I nudged Red and Sam and they quickly nodded and began shooting at the car. We saw the guy pull Yulia to the ground and shout at the guy in the car and it rapidly drove off. He looked up as the smoke around them blocked their sight, hiding us. Their figures stood up, him holding her close and pulling her up like she weighed nothing. More figures came behind them and once we were close enough to see, I saw Omar and a few more bulky men protecting him. He bit his lips and grimaced before pulling out his gun and aiming it towards me."Don't come any closer or we'll shoot." He barked out before holding the gun close, his finger pressed against the trigger in case he had to shoot. Instead I held my hand up for my men to stay back while I went closer. I saw Yulia staring at me with teary eyes, her hand gripping the guy's tightly as he squeezed hers back reassuringly. My gaze shifted from her to him. He took a step forward and pulled Yulia behind him gently.
"Who the fuck are you?" His voice was harsh and commanding as he glared down at me. He was so tall, even I couldn't understand how that was humanely possible.
"Who are you?" I snarled back with as much hatred as I could muster up. Instead he glared at me while weighing me up. His eyes roaming all over my body before he scoffed.
"I'm her lover. She belongs to me only." I couldn't believe it. He thought he owned her and she was fine with it? How could she even be near such a guy. But something else flashed into my mind. Yulia never loved any man in her whole entire life but that meant..... no. He couldn't be the guy she described. So sweet and innocent. This was just a monster, a possessive fucking creep.
"You... you're.... You're Elijah?" I managed to get the words out. But once he heard those words, an evil smirk swept across his face, making him look even darker than he did before and sending shivers down my spine.
"Yes. I am. That's my name. And who are you?" He was so fucking intimidating, even I was kinda scared of that bitch. I still couldn't believe she'd ever fall in love with such a twat. Though his voice was dark and horrifying, it was also kind of alluring, forcing me to answer even when I didn't want to.
"Uh..." I swallowed hard before continuing. "Liam. I'm just a friend." I was rooted on the spot, I felt like I couldn't move, like I was possessed by a demon. I was just staring at him as he smirked at me. He turned to Yulia and took her hand in his and began to walk away until another man with three guys behind him walked from behind me.
"Stop." He was panting heavily and drenched with blood but I could still see his face: it was her father. He was aiming a gun at Elijah as soon as he turned around.
As soon as Elijah was facing him, his own men aimed their guns at the short man and the guys behind him. Sam and Red with the rest of my boys all got their guns and aimed it at the other men with raised guns, pointing right at their heads. Elijah muttered a curse word under his breath as he waited for the short man to continue, still gripping his own gun with it aimed at her so-called father. We all stood still in the intense moment, everyone aiming a gun at another person, not daring to move and waiting for the next person to talk.
"Give her back to me and I'll pay you. A lot of money." Her father managed to rasp the words out, making Yulia cling to Elijah even more. Instead I decided to reply.
"No. She won't go with you. What you're doing is illegal. And her, she's nineteen. Old enough to live her life." They all glared at me once I let my opinion loose and I had to admit, I didn't regret it one bit.
"And who are you?" Her father asked me but I could hear the disgust in his voice.
"I'm her friend. She's family to me. And I'm not letting her go." They all pulled a face of disapproval at me except for Elijah and his men, they stared with frowns on their faces. We all stood still as we were enveloped in silence once again. After a few intense moments, Omar broke the silence, still holding his gun but not aiming it at anyone.
"Let's put our weapons down and we'll figure this out appropriately. We've all lost a lot of men just for a girl who has the right to live her life without anyone bothering her." Before anyone could even agree or disagree, her father snapped before shooting.
"SHE'S MY DAUGHTER. I'LL CHOOSE WHAT SHE DOES OR NOT!" And with that he shot his gun, causing everyone to shout and begin shooting again. Luckily, the shot hit no one but once they all began to fire again, it hit her father right in the chest, making him collapse onto the ground, clutching the wound with his eyes wide open. His mouth opened and closed before his hand fell to the side, his body still like a statue. We all separated in our own directions, knowing it was futile and we had already lost a lot of men. Elijah had Yulia and her father was now dead. That was one less problem to deal with. We all got into our cars and drove off. I got into the car me, Red and Sam had been in before and we sped off. We were going a longer way to follow Elijah, I was not giving up on her that easily. Me, Sam and Red were in the car, speeding as we tried to find our way to the road before we lost them. While I was driving, I hadn't noticed Serena straddling Red in the back seats until Sam nudged me and gestured for me to look in the rear view mirror while grinning at me cheekily.
"Fuck. You guys, this isn't the time to make out in the car. We'll have Yulia soon and she'll be broken." They quickly broke away and sat away from each other, clearly embarrassed from being caught. I focused my attention on the road ahead, searching for any signs of another car. On the edge of letting my anger out, Sam pointed out to the side, the road that separated us from the other road. My gaze followed where he was pointing and I saw their car speeding on the other side of the road, through the gaps in the pile of trees and overgrown bushes that separated the roads.
"Shit. We're so damn close." Pressing my foot on the accelerator, I managed to force the car faster. Letting loose my growl of frustration, I spun the steering wheel, going faster but driving through the shrubbery and aiming for the small gap in between the trees. The car sped towards it before it flew through the gap and everyone in the car screamed, gripping on the seats tightly as the car sped through the gap. It flew forward, hanging in the air for what felt like hours before roughly landing on all fours, blocking the other car's escape. Letting out a sigh of relief, I leaned back into the car seat, taking a deep breath. We finally caught up with them. Sitting up and snapping my eyes open and ignoring the scolding of all the angry passengers I looked at the other car. I left the car where it was, refusing to let it past. Seeing that Elijah was coming out, I left the driver's seat myself. Omar was right behind him but except from that, he was alone. Red and Sam followed behind me.
They knew what was coming and I did too.
This is it. It's now or never.
