I'm driving wildly now. I don't give a damn about the police van that is nearby, parked in front of the donut shop that's up ahead. My sole focus is to get away from the others as well as this city.
My foot is just pressed on the accelerator as I ache for the car to go faster. I know the car is already going fast enough, the arrow on the speedometer is constantly moving further to the bigger numbers and the way the car leaves the ground every time I go over the small bumps on the road tells me I need to stop, but I don't. I can't.
I refuse to look in the rear view mirror because I know Red will be really angry, driving after me in the middle of the night.
Something changes in the corner of my eye and when I look up, the light is changing to red, still amber. Pushing my foot further down on the pedal, the car speeds up and the vibrations beneath me grow violent. The car is literally off the ground and once it connects to the ground, I'm thrown forward but it's not enough to stop me.
Suddenly, I'm driving past the van and briefly make eye contact with two men stuffing themselves with donuts. One is fat and stout whilst the other is stick thin and looks quite tall even though he's sat down in a van. Their jaws drop open and I see them look at each other before putting down the donuts and turning their siren on.
They exit the parking lot and begin to drive after me at an extremely high speed but not as fast as mine.
Looks like the fucking line is getting bigger.
I try my hardest not to look in the mirror and, thankfully, I manage. It's not easy but thanks to my experience, it's doable. The sound of a loud hailer cracks in the air and when I listen carefully, I realise the feds are telling me to stop now.
"Pull yer car over. I repeat, pull yer car over." It's the thin man speaking with his head out of the window and a hailer in his hand whilst his hair flaps in the wind. He has a thin, long face with a sharp chin and his skin is a dark shade of peach. The officer driving is chubby and bright red, his cheeks puffed up as he concentrates on driving.
When I look ahead, I see cars halting and swerving just seconds before we make contact. Every vehicle has moved out of the way, clearing the road ahead which lets me go faster. Speeding up, I swerve round the corner and suddenly see a small alleyway, completely empty but really small. I don't know whether this car can get through it but I give it a chance. I know that this can be the end of my journey with me being in jail and no one coming after me but I don't care. It is what it is so whatever comes next, I'm just going to accept it.
Doing a U turn as the car spins sharply, I manage to get closer to the alleyway. It's there, right in front of me. All I have to do is turn the car again and I'll make it.
As I'm driving towards it, I see a familiar car with a simial car plate.
GT95... shit! It's them!
The car I had driven before was only inches away from me, much bigger than the car I was driving now. Thinking of reversing the car and turning back, I check the mirror but the idea drops instantly. The police are still after me. I really do have only one chance and I have to take it, taking the risk is the only way to get out of this problem.
After the U turn, I swerve again, dodging cars as they blare their horns at me before braking. Turning around the cars, I zigzag my way out of the maze of metal and I finally make it in front of the alleyway.
This is it. It's now or never.
Speeding up, once again, I drive right till the entrance to isolation, inhaling deeply before looking back into the rear view mirror.
"Do not go any further or I will use force, if need be. I repeat, do NOT go any further." The police man is still giving his warnings, which I obviously ignore. I've went too far and there's no way I'm going back. All this work for nothing? There's definitely no way I'm turning back now.
I'm holding my breath as I make my way towards the alley, the car moving at such speed, I feel like it's going to crash against the brick wall.
I don't know whether I'm going to make it or not so I hold my breath. The car suddenly goes into the tiny space and instead of crashing, it continues to go through the small gap and within seconds, I'm on the other side and driving away from the alley.
Looking into the mirror, I see the police van come to a stop and the thin man shouts loudly then gets out of the car. Dramatically kicking the car, he quickly winces in pain and throws his arms in the air as he yells.
I've gotten away.
Smiling to myself, I begin to speed the car up again and drive further into the night.
