Ever since Josh's speech during that one lunch, no one ever says anything mean to them anymore. Harry, JJ, and Ethan never spent more than one second glancing at them. Simon and Josh knew that some people still talked about them behind their backs but at least it wasn't directly at them. Right now they couldn't be happier. Especially since they were doing football tricks with Vik on a Saturday.
"Josh I must say, you have improved a lot since we first started." Simon complimented.
"Thanks. I would hope that I'm not so bad I somehow got worse." Josh laughed.
"What about me?" Vik chirped.
"You too, Vik." Simon giggled. They then saw Tobi's car drive by. "Hey, Tobi! Cruisin' somewhere?" Simon caught his attention. All three ran up to the gate.
"Over the rainbow?" Josh added to Simon's "somewhere".
"Actually, quite the opposite." Tobi said with a dull tone. They looked at him confused. "Get in." Tobi ordered. All three ran over and hopped in the car. It had the hood down. Tobi drove them down to the cemetery.
"Why are we here?" Vik asked, surveying the grave markers.
"Because today is somebody's birthday." Tobi sighed. He parked the car and got out. Simon, Vik, and Josh followed him to a gravestone. "I had a little brother. His name was Manny." Tobi sniffed. He shoved his hands into the pockets of his jean jacket.
"Is that why there's the name Manny in your jacket?" Josh realised the connection.
"I'm not going to ask how know, but yes. It was his and I've worn ever since he died." Tobi looked over at them. "That's why Harry has such a fascination with it. I never really knew who Harry was until that detention. I just knew what he looked like and his name. Manny always talked about how him and Harry had this frienemy relationship. I guess ever since Manny died Harry's wanted revenge on him and this jacket is way of doing so." Tobi explained. It all made sense now. Josh was really glad he didn't let Harry ruin it that one day. Maybe letting their secret out was worth the risk.
"I'm sorry to hear." Vik mourned with Tobi. This is when Josh realised something; Life is a bitter sweet symphony.
