They hadn't been asleep for very long when Leila's phone rang. She jumped and Knox let go of her as she got off the bed and walked over to her purse. She dug out her phone and answered it.

Knox sighed softly as he rolled on his back, his gaze on her nude body. Maybe he could fuck her again. If she wasn't too sore. His cock twitched at the thought. Or maybe he could just eat her out again. She probably would be too sore. He could content himself with that.

"What?"

Knox frowned at her tone, and tuned into the conversation, listening as someone told her that she needed to come see her grandfather. They didn't think he'd make it through the night.

Knox heard the catch in her voice, and he sat up, realizing his night with her was about to come to an end. Disappointment swirled through him, but he tamped it down. He knew that she would have to walk away; that he would have to let her go. He got off the bed and slipped on his clothes, still listening to both sides of her conversation while she stood there, still naked.

She turned to him, and he handed her paper and a pen so she could take down directions. A small smile touched her lips as she took them from him.

"Okay. I'll catch a cab and be there as quickly as I can." She disconnected the call and turned back to Knox. It didn't seem to really faze her that she was naked which surprised him. She was that comfortable with him.

But he still couldn't help but let his eyes trail over her one last time. One more look at her perfect naked body. Something he'd probably be jerking off to for the next few months. "You have to go?"

She nodded. "I'm sorry, but I do. It's important. But thank you for such an amazing night."

Knox helped her find her clothes and sat down on the bed to watch her dress. Then he followed her to the door, and out to the living room. She opened the door and walked through it.

Leila stopped at the elevator and turned back to him. "I had fun, Knox."

"I'm coming with you." He hit the button for the elevator, his gaze still on her. She was tired; that was obvious.

She started to turn to the elevator as his words sank in and she looked up at him. "What?"

"You're not going in a taxi alone at this time of night. If something were to happen to you, I'd never forgive myself," Knox told her, following her on the elevator. He hit the button for the lobby.

"But.."

He slipped his hands in the pockets of his dress pants. "I'm just going to ride with you in the cab." He was being nice, but he was also being selfish and prolonging his time with her.

She smiled at him. "Thank you."

He nodded. At the moment, he'd do anything for her. Anything to spend a few extra minutes with her. He had to be losing his mind.

The elevator came to a stop, and Knox followed Leila off and across the lobby of Dominic's hotel. They walked out into the cool night air as Leila hailed a cab. He moved closer to her. She was definitely not dressed for this. She was going to freeze.

A cab pulled up and Leila opened the door, climbing inside. Knox got in right behind her as she gave the driver the address. She was shivering, and he wrapped an arm around her, pulling her against his warm body. She snuggled into him and he smiled to himself. They fit together so well.

The ride was much too short and Leila opened her wallet to pay the fare.

"I've got it," Knox told her, eyeing her last name. Leila Townsend. Not that it mattered. It really didn't.

"Knox, you're too kind. Thank you for doing this. It wasn't necessary to get out of your warm bed and ride with me, but I definitely appreciate it," she said, staring up at him.

Knox leaned down and kissed her, his tongue delving into her mouth. He swept it around, knowing this would be it. One last taste to remember her by. It wasn't nearly enough. He pulled back, taking in her dazed expression. Yeah, he felt the same.

Her lips parted into a perfect O before she snapped out of it and climbed out of the car, closing the door behind her.

Knox followed her out and stood there watching her. He needed to make sure she got inside safely.

She turned back to him and smiled. "We don't say goodbye in my family. Until one day when we cross paths again."

Knox smiled. "Until one day when we cross paths again." And if that ever happens, I'll probably be mated to someone else.

He waited until she'd disappeared into the house, then got back into the car. "Back to the hotel, please."

The cabbie smiled at him. "Daayum that was the hottest kiss I've ever seen."

Knox didn't respond as the car took off, his lips twitching with a smile. Well, this was one woman he would never forget. It just sucked that she wasn't his mate. He'd felt something with her though. She was the first one night stand he'd ever treated this way. The first he was regretting walking away from. But she wasn't his fate, and he had to move on.

The cab arrived back at the hotel and he paid the fare and left the cabbie a fat tip, then slipped out of the car. He got back on the elevator and took it up to the penthouse, then headed back into his room.

Her scent and the scent of sex were strong and he breathed it in deeply. He stripped his clothes back off before crawling in bed. He could get a bit of sleep before it would be time for them to fly back home.

Knox woke the next morning and got into the shower, enjoying the ridiculous amount of jets that battered his body with hot water. Dominic's hotel had one of the nicest pent house suites he'd ever been in. Maybe he needed to upgrade the shower heads in his own shower at home.

He finally got out, got dressed and finished packing his bag. Then he headed out of his room to find Dominic.

The shifter was standing at the window, staring out over the city, a cup of coffee in his hand, seemingly lost in thought.

Knox walked over to the kitchen and made his own coffee, adding in cream and sugar. He wished she was still here and he could have a slow morning with her. Find out how she liked her coffee.

"How'd it go?" Dominic asked, turning from the view and walking back over to the island and Knox.

"Good. Actually great," he murmured before lifting the cup to his lips and taking a sip.

Dominic nodded. "Good. Is she still here?"

"No. She had to leave in the middle of the night. Family thing," Knox muttered. He wished she was still here. His morning would have been a lot different. He wouldn't be out here having coffee with Dominic for starters. Instead, he'd have his face buried between her legs, having breakfast in bed. Then he'd carry her into the shower and bathe her. Or maybe a hot bath. She could probably use a soak this morning.

Thoughts of sitting in a bath, with her in between his legs, his hard cock pressing up against her perfect ass was enough to make him hard again. He was liable to be jacking off to images of her before he left the hotel.

Dominic lifted a brow. "In the middle of the night?"

"I think her grandfather is dying," Knox mumbled. "She took off rather quickly."

"Either that or she had a friend call to get her out of an awkward situation," Dom said with a laugh, rubbing at the stubble on his chin.

Knox frowned at him. "Way to rain on my parade, Dom."

Dom chuckled, setting his coffee cup in the sink. "As soon as you're ready. I wanna get home to my mate."

Knox nodded. She hadn't really done that, had she? He supposed it was possible. Oh well. It wasn't like he was ever going to see her again. He didn't want to either. Leila Townsend was a temptation he couldn't afford to indulge in.

He finished his coffee, and then grabbed his bag. Dominic grabbed his as well and they left the penthouse suite, and took the elevator down to the lobby. Dom checked them out, and they left the building. Knox sighed. The sooner he was out of Montreal, the better.
