Knox nodded and stepped out of the room. He was so weak from all of this. Sleep would do him a lot of good, but he couldn't do that right now. He had to make sure Zara had complete control before he passed out.

It took him a few moments to realize he was only a few doors down from the room he'd been assigned to, and he walked inside and closed the door behind him, locking it. He desperately needed privacy.

The last thing he wanted was to be standing in the hallway when Zara walked out with Caelan and Robert, his emotions a train wreck. He needed to get them under control. He didn't want her feeding off of them.

Zara would question them both first, finding out what she needed to know before she moved them.

He stood there for a long moment, leaning against the door, trying to find some strength, before he finally dropped the sheet and walked into the bathroom. He flipped the shower on hot and stepped inside, letting it scald him. He didn't care. He was in so much pain at the moment, what was a little more? He couldn't imagine how much worse this was going to be when he got his wolf back.

The pain from it all was going to be way worse. A half completed bond, the betrayal, the images that were forever ingrained in his mind. It would take a long while before he got the image of Robert's hands on Caelan's body out of his mind, or the sounds she made when she was being fucked. How was he supposed to forget that stuff? How was Romeo going to feel? His wolf was going to be heartbroken and somehow, they were going to have to deal with a severed half-ass bond. He'd never thought something like this would happen to him.

His thoughts drifted to his own father, Dylan, Noelle, Kyra, Talia. Family members who had gone through losing a mate. None of them had been betrayed like this. None of them had desired to kill their own mate. None of them were as fucked up in the head as he was now.

He scrubbed himself down as best he could, washing off the blood, the other bodily fluids, and most importantly, he washed off her scent. He had to push what was going to happen out of his mind. He had to turn off his emotions. He knew she could still feel them, and he hated it. He didn't want her to know what he was feeling. He focused on anger, letting her feel that for a while. Though she'd probably feed off of it, twisted as she was.

The most annoying thing about all of this was that his dick was still hard. He was still incredibly aroused and that was infuriating. He wondered if he jerked off, if that would help. But there was nothing that came to mind that he wanted to jerk off to. Absolutely nothing. Even letting his thoughts drift to Leila didn't help. He was too angry to concentrate. He sighed. He knew he needed to sleep, and let his body heal, but even if he laid down, his dick wouldn't let him sleep. He ran his hands through his own hair, pulling on it in frustration.

Knox got out of the shower and threw his clothes on, gritting his teeth as he buttoned up his jeans. Then he headed down to the Alpha's office and walked inside.

Zara was seated in there behind Jensen's desk, looking through files. She looked him over, worry evident in her eyes. "Are you okay?"

"No." It was the truth. He wasn't okay, and he probably wasn't going to be for a while.

"What happened?"

He shot a glare at her. "I'm not telling you that, Zara. Trust me, you don't want to know." He didn't want to tell anyone, even though he knew at some point he would have to.

She eyed him quietly. "Perhaps not."

"Tell me what happened with you," he said.

She quickly went over the details, explaining how they thought she'd overheard the Gamma talking to the Alpha about human trafficking that they were involved in to bring extra money into the pack.
