The knock on her bedroom door distracted her and she headed back out of the bathroom and opened it up.

Her father stood on the other side and looked her over. He looked pissed off, and Caelan got the impression their liaisons had gotten under his skin, which was nothing new. "They're asking questions. Too many for their own good. You need to attend the meeting. Change first. That dress isn't appropriate for the future Alpha of the Virginia Pack." He turned around and abruptly walked away, not bothering to wait for a response. He just expected to be obeyed.

Caelan bit her lip. Her father was stressed out; that was for certain. She'd obey orders and do as he asked. Arguing with him never did any good, and especially not when he was pissed off. It was a good way to set him off even more. She wondered what the liaisons were saying to him. Jensen did not like to be questioned. At all.

Caelan headed into her closet and chose a more conservative dress, one that made her look like a leader, a Queen. She was good at playing the part. She slipped off the dress she was wearing and put on the new one. It was a rose pink with a white cardigan. It complimented her skin tone well. Then she slipped on a pair of heels and left her room, then headed downstairs to the Alpha's office.

She was rarely ever in that office, and the last time she'd been in there, Robert had fucked her on her father's desk. She smirked at that memory. She and Robert had started messing around shortly after his eighteenth birthday, and it hadn't been long before he'd taken her virginity. She enjoyed him and everything he did to her, but he wasn't gentle with her which was what she preferred. He was also the only one besides her father that she'd let boss her around. And boss her around he did. Last night, he'd found her in the kitchen alone and had forced her on her knees so he could fuck her mouth.

Caelan stopped outside of the door, gathering her thoughts, and took a deep breath, then frowned as her wolf suddenly stirred, breathing in deeply. She froze and took another breath. Was her fated mate in there? And if so, how? Their liaisons were both women that she had met before. Who else was here? She was a bit annoyed that her father hadn't told her.

Caelan bit her lip, then grabbed the handle, opening the door and walked inside. The delicious scent smacked her in the face. Her gaze moved around and settled on a man who was sitting at the far end of the table away from everyone else. Why was he down there?

Mate! Her world rocked for a moment, as she became fully aware of him. He was handsome with his brown hair and blue eyes fringed with dark lashes. He was clean shaven, and she wondered how old he was. He was well built and gorgeous, but she couldn't sense anything about him at all. Where had he come from?

Beta Russell remained quiet during Jensen's absence and Knox wondered what merit the man had for the Alpha. He'd barely heard the man put together more than a few words. Even when Zara had been questioning the Alpha, he hadn't said a thing. His son was equally as quiet, and just sat staring across the room paying no mind to either him or Zara.

Jensen was gone for a good fifteen minutes, before he finally decided to reappear. He walked inside and sat back down in the chair, leaving the door open behind him. He didn't say a word to anyone. He might as well have not even came back.

But then, things got much more interesting. Knox could smell her before he saw her. He breathed in the scent deeply and felt his cock twitch. His wolf, Romeo, was bouncing around in his mind in excitement. He licked his lips. She was a she-wolf, which wasn't what he had expected. And if it was who he thought it was, Alpha Jensen might get his wish, and his son would be the next Alpha.

The scent became overpowering, and all Knox could think about. He looked up to see a beautiful blond enter the office. Her hair was piled up on top of her head in a bun, and she wore a pink dress, with a white cardigan. Her eyes were large and green, her skin a lovely tan. She had on a pair of heels, and she was looking right at him, curiosity on her beautiful face.

Mate! The word ricocheted through his head as he stared back at her. She was gorgeous and he couldn't help but look her over, appreciating every aspect of her, from her elegant hairstyle to her long legs. Legs he couldn't wait to get wrapped around him.

"Caelan."

Her father's quiet command had her pulling her eyes off of Knox and looking at the man who had sired her. She stepped forward and walked over to the table and sat down on Alpha Jensen's right. "Sorry, Daddy."

Knox watched the Alpha's gaze soften as he smiled at her. So, she did hold a soft spot in the man's heart. It was the first smile the Alpha had worn all day. "It's fine," he murmured very quietly before looking at Zara. "Princess. You've met my daughter, Caelan. Caelan, Princess Zara."

"Princess," Caelan greeted her before her gaze darted down to Knox.

It annoyed him more this time that he wasn't introduced to her. It was like he was invisible, sitting down there at the foot of the table.

Zara continued on with her discussion, and Knox watched as more than once, Caelan's eyes moved back over to him. He also noticed that the Beta's son was watching her now as well instead of staring across the room. It looked like the other man had a crush on Knox's mate too. Knox pursed his lips but didn't say anything. What could he say at this point? He was the invisible Prince sitting at the foot of the table, he thought with annoyance.

Finally, everyone stood. Alpha Jensen would give Zara and Knox a tour of the pack lands. Beta Russell had things to do, but his son, Robert, would go with them, much to Knox's annoyance. He'd had yet to have a chance to actually speak to Caelan, though he desperately wanted to. Romeo was going a little crazy in his mind.

They headed outside, and Knox followed behind Caelan and Robert, annoyed that she was walking with him and not with Knox. And as usual, he was disregarded. Maybe she wasn't interested. He frowned. Maybe, like her father, she thought him beneath her. But after a few moments, she fell back into step with him.

"Hi," she said softly, smiling up at him.

"Hi," he responded, smiling back at her. She was quite beautiful. He still couldn't believe that she was his.

"I'm Caelan. And you are?'

"Knox. Nice to meet you." Maybe he should tell her who he really was, but not at the moment.

She smiled. "You're part of Regal Eclipse?"

Why else would he be here? "Yeah. I guess Amanda is one of your normal liaisons but she wasn't able to make it, so I came instead," he murmured. Her eyes were so beautiful. They were more amber in the middle and green on the outside. He could get lost in them.

"I'm glad you came," she said softly.

"Me too. I'm not a liaison, so this was unexpected," he told her.

The conversation pretty much ended at that point as the tour was starting to wrap up. Knox hadn't paid the least bit of attention to anything except Caelan, but he supposed it didn't matter. At this point, he just wanted to spend some time alone with her.

"How long are you planning to stay, Princess?' Alpha Jensen asked when they arrived back at the pack house.

Zara glanced up at Knox. She knew.

"Alpha, your daughter, Caelan, is my mate," Knox said, letting the Alpha know they weren't going to be leaving right away. He needed to speak to Caelan and get everything figured out.

Jensen frowned, his gaze darting back and forth between the two of them as his lips pursed together. He gave a single nod. "For a bit then. I'll have a dinner prepared. Princess, I can show you to a room." His gaze flicked back to Knox, and then to his daughter. "Come with me."

Knox watched him go and his gaze flicked back to Caelan. Robert had completely disappeared. "Come on. I'll show you to a room, Knox."

He smiled at her and followed her inside the house. Now he might actually get a chance to be alone with her.
