An excerpt from Held Captive: The True Story of Life Under Rafanoli. By: Asher Tibbles
Of the five laws of Rafanoli, Luca Rafanoli was only responsible for one law: the first law entitled the "Equal Contribution Labor Act." It was put into effect in 1870 after the completion of Stormy Shore and simply stated - it requires that all residents of both Stormy Shore and the Clinkirk Compound dutifully and willingly work a minimum of ten hours a day as their contribution to the welfare of Pigscula Keys economy.
Following Luca Rafanoli's death in 1875 - his successor Antonio Rafanoli initiated a new law dubbed, "The Stormy Shore Stipend." This law required a monthly expense paid by Stormy Shore citizens to the Rafanoli family as Antonio felt he should have some compensation for providing food and protection to the people under his rule.
The third law you are probably already familiar with and that is the Treaty of 1888 also by Antonio Rafanoli that states no one shall cross the Salamander Line, or they shall be beheaded.
The fourth law is the Jackson Hugo Law of 1903. This law states no one is exempt from deportation and once the ceremony has taken place the results are final. Should anyone try to avoid deportation as was the case in 1903 when Jackson Hugo's family was selected for deportation the punishment is death by hanging. Jackson Hugo had convinced Ava Mansfield to marry him that night but as this was following the ceremony the marriage was not recognized, and they were hanged in the town square for defying the law.
The final law is "TheEscape Clause." This was established in 1993 following Warren Muckernutsremarkable escape from the Clinkirk Compound. It is the only law by RalphRafanoli. Ralph, being of a keener mind and kinder heart than his ancestors, selected the punishment for this crime to be life imprisonment at MayhewJailhouse.
