Hermione woke up groggily to voices. She fell asleep reading on a couch in the corner of the common room. She quite liked this couch as it offered protection from the rest of her peers, the back was high and it faced the rest of the room with intricate carvings lacing the top of the red couch. The only con was it was quite cold here as the fireplace was across the room in front of the other couch.
"Did you or did you not put your name in the goblet of fire" came a husky voice. Hermione peered over the edge of the couch body weight pressed against the armrest as she daintily let her book fall against the carpeted floor.
"Harry?" She whispered seeing him with his face close to a roaring fire."No!" Harry responded to the hearth
"Shhhhh" the husky voice came from... Inside the common room fire place?
"I had to ask... Harry the Death eaters at the World Cup, your name rising from that goblet these are not just coincidences Hogwarts is not safe anymore." The hearth roared speaking quickly to Harry.
"What are you saying?" Harry asked obviously confused .
"I'm saying the devils are in the walls... Igor Kakaroff. He was a death eater, no one just stops being a death eater." Hermione stood up creeping towards harry trying to get a view of the fire place. The voices quieted for a second than continued.
"Do you think he put my name in the goblet?"
Harry asked questioningly. Hermione peeked over the edge of the bookshelf that separated them. Harry's face was getting tickled by the flames of the hearth."I have no clue who put your name in that goblet Harry but whoever did is no friend to you, People die in that tournament."
"I'm not ready for this Sirius." Harry replied quickly. Hermione realized that the voice from the fire was Sirius's she left her hiding place and stared at Harry. He was still intently looking at the fire place.
"Harry" she called out slightly scared, Harry turned and looked at her mouth gaping in confusion.
"Keep your friends close" Sirius said before vanishing.
"Hermione what are you doing down here it's late?" Harry stated
"how much did you hear?""I was sleeping on the couch and you woke me. Harry, was that Sirius?" She asked cautiously.
It's been a day since they spoke, two since the goblet called Harry's name."Yeah he um, owled me this morning" Harry answered looking slightly peeved.
"Harry come sit down" Hermione motioned she sat down lightly next to the couch near the portrait hole. Harry sat down lightly next to her and he looked back towards the hearth were Sirius's face was just made out of coals.
"Harry I'm sorry if I've been... avoiding you a bit." She sighed a little in between purposely not making eye contact.
"Yeah what's that all about Hermione, when we got back from the dining hall we were talking about Cho and you just got up and left."
Harry looked at her with a questioning look on his face."Honestly... I'm sorry Harry it's just I don't know" Harry took her hand in his and her breath caught slightly. They were close not as close as that morning at the Burrow but still close. His eyes God, those eyes. They were breathtaking piercing yet soft. When he looked at her like this it felt like getting a shot, maybe a sedative. It was starting and it slowly got addicting.
"Hermione please don't ignore me like that ever again." Harry said softly
Hermione paused then slowly replied.
"Harry... I won't."
Hermione's stomach flipped she looked down trying to hide her evident blush.
