"Are you sure this will work Neville?" Harry questioned second guessing him and Neville's idea. It wasn't a problem getting the Gillyweed professor Sprout she was nice enough to lend them some. She even whispered
"Don't tell my house that I'm rooting for you Harry." Harry smiled at her transparency and thanked her honestly."You read the book yourself mate you know the risks we just have to trust that Professor gave us the right amount." Harry was doubting himself as he and Neville climbed into the boat that led students to the massive rig that appeared in the middle of the night. It lay in the direct middle of the lake with impressive seats at the top and three large platforms with a roof at the very top. There were three different but identical rigs all for the different schools.
Harry stepped off the boat onto the platform and Mad Eye Moody was there to grab his arm and hoist him up. He looked down into the dark water before turning to look for Hermione. Surely if she wasn't in the common room or the dining hall she was here."Welcome to second trial last night something was stolen from each of our champions." Harry's heart sank hearing Dumbledore's booming words. Hermione wasn't... Harry looked down into the deep water as a bubble popped at the surface. As if the gas that left, he bubbles was despair Harry was hit with a mixture of fear and worry.
"A treasure of sorts these four treasures one for each champion now stay at the bottom of the Black Lake in order to win each champion will only need to find their treasure and bring them to the surface. Simple enough except for this They will have only one hour to do so." Professor Moody pushed into Harry grabbing his hand and shoving it towards his face.
"Put this in your mouth." He hissed with a hint of impatience in his tone. Harry did as told and chowed down into the disgusting slimy plant as the countdown began Harry was coughing wildly as a meaty hand came striking down on his back much like how a mother will burp their baby. A cannon shot off and the challengers dove in except for Harry. In shock the same hand shoved him into water. Harry writhed beneath the surface as pain shot from his stomach up to his neck. The passage in the book spoke of pain but Harry never suffered something like this before his insides felt like lava. He couldn't breathe and then all at once the pain subsided and oxygen filled his... Gills?! he felt his neck gingerly as the slits flapped grossly in the water filtering the oxygen into his bloodstream. He looked down to see that his feet were webbed almost like diver's flippers.
Harry breached the surface doing an Olympic level flip and heard the cries of excitement from the students as he dove back under the surface. Harry was filled with determination to find his treasure; He was sure it was Hermione, and he had less than an hour to find her. Harry looked around the eerie water as he came across a canyon at the bottom was dark and even his modified eyes couldn't penetrate the dark water. Harry dove down and swam alongside a school of fish before a song filled his ears. The same song that he heard the egg cry when him and Myrtle were in the prefect's bath. Seaweed opened out to a view of ruins buildings and a massive arch. Harry swam closer to the noise that he heard. In the arch he saw the figures unmoving one with medium length curly golden-brown hair that waved in the light. His heart wrenched and he speed to the four. He ignored the creatures around the ruins and went straight for his Hermione... his girlfriend. She looked lifeless and it hurt to look at her. Harry looked at the three other contestants. He only recognized one Cho, the other two both French girls one looked like a mini version of Fleur.
He started at Hermione's bindings as Cedric came next to him, he flashed him a grin and pointed towards his wrist. Time, and the lack thereof. Harry struggled harder as he heard a flash of movement behind him. A massive shark bit into the rope that the older French girl was entrapped by. Harry had gotten Hermione's bindings, but He looked around impatiently. No one was coming for the other girl. Harry pulled out his want and wanted to mimic Cedrics Incendio spell on the girls' ropes. But as sharp object pressed against his throat as a disgusting mermaid-like creature pressed a Trident against his throat.
