Hermione stared at herself in the dormitory bathroom. Lavender complemented her maybe a hundred times as Parvati consoled her telling her that she was gorgeous. She embarrassingly spilled who she was taking to the ball to the girls, and they teased her to no end.
Hermione wasn't friends with either of the girls till the end of last year when she had them in most of her classes. They admitted they had a disdain for her because of how smart she was but naturally as being the only girls in the 4th year dorm they've grown closer over this year. She messed with her hair trying to stamp the frizzy bits down."Me and Harry at the Yule Ball together." She smiled at her reflection.
"As friends." Her own reflection answered back darkly before continuing.
"You really thought he was going to kiss you? Before that oaf Ron walked in?" Her reflection sneered at her rudely.
"Never you Hermione he'd never settle with you. He could have any girl in the school, and he's just took you out of pity." The mirror Hermione jeered at her rudely before continuing.
"He's the chosen one, the only person to survive the killing curse. He's more of a celebrity than Dumbledore himself and you expect any sort of affection that's not platonic?" The mirror snorted rudely before continuing.
"For how smart of a facade you put on you are emotionally inept." Hermione stood there stunned staring at herself. She didn't want to go anymore. She didn't want to see Harry. The intimate moment that they shared before Ron interrupted rattled her to her very core. The way Harry made her forget about almost everything when he did something as simple as holding her hand or when he gently brushed into her while walking in the halls. Hermione opened the bathroom door slowly and collected herself she left her dormitory and entered the common room. She took a deep sigh before exiting the portrait hole.

Harry paced nervously while waiting for Ron. He looked up warily towards the girl's dormitory knowing Hermione was getting ready.
"Harry i still don't understand why you won't tell me anything about your date?" Ron huffed angrily while scrambling down the dormitory stairs in his ancient dress robes. Harry had to contain a laugh whilst watching Ron. He really liked his robes Sirius sent them in the mail a few weeks ago and he hadn't worn them until now but still they fit him nicely.
"You'll see when you get to Ron." Harry teased with a smile as Ron desperately tried to fix his Lapel in reflection of the common room window.
"No matter who you're going with at least you have some good robes." Ron replied still totally infatuated with his figure.
"Merlin do we really have to go?" Ron said with an awkward frown that Harry couldn't help but laugh at.
"Ron you can't just stand-up Parvati!" Harry stated as he looked at Ron before continuing lightly
"Come on Ron I can't be late I'm in the opening dance."
"Ugh alright." Ron replied evidently nervous for the oncoming night. He wasn't alone in that Harry thought sadly. Even though he was going with Hermione they were going as nothing more than friends. She probably would've been happier to go with Krum then him.

Harry and Ron scaled down the stairs while observing the traffic of students dressed to the nines. Beautiful dresses and Handsome robes flowed similarly bustling through the hall. Ron interrupted Harry's thoughts.
"Poor kid, I bet she's alone in her room crying her eyes out."
"Who?" Harry questioned already knowing the prat's answer.
