JUSTINS POV
I brushed my hand over Hailey's sleeping face. I brought her to my house, we barely talked on the way here– I had no clue what to say and I doubt she did either. It wasn't exactly her plan to come out of this alive. As soon as we got here, I took her to my room and she passed out on my bed.
I went downstairs to my mom who looked at me with sympathy as she got up from the couch.
"How is she?" She asked pulling me into a hug.
"I don't know mom, she won't talk to me."
"Give her time Justin... It takes time." She soothed.
"What am I supposed to do?"
"When I was her age, I tried to do the exact same thing. I've told you all this before, but the thing which kept me going in the end was all the good things in life- the future." My mom paused. "If I had succeeded then you wouldn't be here and that hurts me so much."
"So I'm supposed to say "Hey Hailey, if you carry on living, you'll get to give birth to me!" I asked sarcastically.
"No Justin." My mom chuckled shaking her head. "You just remind her about the future, your future with her, all the opportunities. She just got herself a bit stuck and she needs you to help her out."
"I don't know if I can." I whispered.
"It's time to grow up now Justin, life's not a game anymore. You'll be ok. I know you." She kissed my head. "You're a strong boy."
She was right, I've dealt with so much from a young age, I can beat something like this. I can overcome it. I had to- for Hailey.
"You must be hungry." My mom commented. "Go and make yourself some food and then go and check on Hailey. She might wake up soon."
I nodded in agreement and gave her one last hug. My mom gave me a tight squeeze before letting me go. For such a small women, she had strength. I walked into the kitchen and opened the fridge. I found it difficult to find something, nothing seemed appealing. My appetite was nonexistent.
I pulled out some chicken and grabbed the bread off the side. I went through all the stages of making a chicken sandwich methodically. I needed to something to clear my mind.
"Chicken." I muttered putting it onto the buttered bread. "Sauce." I grabbed the tomato sauce and squirted it on. "Bread." I put the other piece of bread on it. "Squash." I pushed down on i squeezing all the ingredients "and slice." I grabbed a knife, the light shining off it and sliced through the bread.
The knife dropped out my hand when I heard a shrill scream from upstairs. I looked up in alarm and quickly headed for the stairs. I ran up them, skipping most of the steps and ran into my bedroom.
"Justin QUICK!" My mom screamed from my bathroom.
I turned the corner to see my mom cradling a lifeless Hailey in her arms. Hailey's wrists were pouring with blood creating a pool around her.
"Call 911!" My mom shouted. Her eyes were full of panic. I didn't move though, I could pull my eyes away. "NOW!" she screamed.
I quickly snapped back to life running for my phone which was on my bed stand. I dialled 911 and waited for someone to pick up.
"Hello, 911, what's your emergency."
"Hello, it's my..." I stuttered. "My girlfriend. She's hurt herself, badly. There's lot of blood and I..."
