Ezra said: "Karabast! That creature is heading straight to the Ewok village!" Kanan said: "Something tells me that you've got a plan." Ezra shrugged out of his jacket and tossed it aside and stood on the railing and jumped and grabbed onto a vine in midair and swung over to a tree and climbed up and grabbed his blaster and aimed at a vine and fired at the vine. Looking closer, Kanan could see that it was in fact a cleverly concealed trap suspended by vines. Sever one of the vines and the trap is triggered. And Ezra knew this. But the blast missed the vine. Ezra ignited his lightsaber and cut through the vine. Kanan grabbed his blaster and fired at the creature in order to buy Ezra some time. The trap was triggered and swung forward and knocked the creature back. Kanan slid his blaster back in its holster. Ezra deactivated his lightsaber and slid his blaster back in its holster and climbed down and grabbed the vine and swung over and jumped over the railing and landed lightly on the bridge. He walked over to Kanan and said: "Thanks Dad." He picked up his jacket from where he had tossed it aside and brushed it off and shrugged into his jacket and leaned against the railing. Kanan said: "You're welcome. I didn't do much." Ezra said: "You bought me some time and that was a big help. By shooting at the creature and distracting it, you bought me enough time to spring the trap. So thank you. We saved the Ewoks. Together. Even the smallest thing can make a huge difference. You taught me that." Kanan wrapped an arm around him and said: "Just like old times. Before Hera died." Ezra said: "yeah. It's nice when we fight side by side together. Because that's when we're the strongest. Is when we work together. That's the way it's always been. And that's the way it always will be." Kanan said: "yeah." Just then Anakin stepped out of his hut and walked over and said: "So, what happened? I had a bunch of Ewoks come running into my hut all frightened. I couldn't understand a word they were saying. But I managed to figure out that it had something to do with the ground shaking. So, what did I miss?" Kanan and Ezra looked at each other and looked at Anakin and shrugged and Ezra said: "Just a giant creature heading towards the Ewok village. Dad and I took care of it." Kanan said: "Ah no, Ezra took care of it, I just provided a distraction." Ezra said: "You still helped." Anakin crossed his arms and said: "I guess we know where Ezra gets his stubbornness from." Kanan said: "Yeah. He gets it from me." Anakin said: "I know. Ezra acts a lot like you sometimes." Ezra said: "to be fair, I have no love for the Empire. So I literally do everything I can to be a pain in the butt to them. Serves them right if you ask me." Kanan said: "Huh. Even after the Empire took your parents from you, you still fight against the Empire." Ezra looked at Kanan and said: "Ephraim and Mira Bridger aren't my biological parents. Yes they were my parents for a time. And I will always hold them in my heart. But they wouldn't want me to give up what they fought so hard for. Ephraim and Mira were both pilots so I guess you could say flying is in my blood. They taught me everything I know about flying. They had a ship like Hera's. Like Hera, they had a dream for a better future. Their legacies carry on in me. That's why I keep fighting against the Empire. Because we have nothing if not hope." Kanan said: "They sound like good people." Ezra smiled and said: "They were. They fought for those who can't fight for themselves. That's why I fight. Because there's people out there who can't fight for themselves. And we owe it to them to fight for them. We just have to wait for a while. We can't help them if we're under heavy Imperial surveillance. We have to play it safe." Kanan said: "You know, you make more sense than Hera ever did." Ezra said: "That comes from living on the streets for so long. You learn when to wait and when to go. This, this is one of those times where you can't do anything except lay low for a while and wait. Hera, no offense to her, but she didn't grow up on the streets like I did. I developed street smarts." Kanan said: "I'm proud of you." Ezra shrugged and said: "just applying what I learned from living on the streets to this." Kanan wrapped his arms around Ezra and held him close to him. Ezra leaned into his embrace. Kanan laid his head on top of Ezra's. The older man held him close to him.
