One day, Ezra was sitting outside on the bridge meditating. Kanan stepped out of his hut shrugging into his jacket as he went. He walked over. As he grew closer, he heard Ezra speaking to someone. He heard the name Rey and assumed that's who he was talking to. Kanan watched Ezra who didn't even acknowledge his presence. He was deeply focused. Kanan heard Ezra say: "Rey, the Force will be with you, always." And with that, Ezra came out of meditation and stood and turned around and said: "Hey Dad." Kanan said: "Hey. You were very focused there." Ezra said: "there was a Jedi Padawan clear across the galaxy fighting the Emperor. The battle wasn't going very well. So I gave her a bit of a boost through the Force. Her name is Rey. I think she's all good now. However, I did invite her to come here. She has very little Jedi training. I have a feeling that she'll come here when she's done fighting Palpatine." Kanan said: "Are you going to train her?" Ezra said: "Better yet. I'm going to take her as my Padawan. I think I have a pretty good concept of what to do. I mean, if you can train me with what limited training you had and I became a Jedi Knight, then I'm fairly certain that I can train her. Besides, if I need any help, I have you, Anakin, and Ahsoka to turn to." Kanan said: "thanks." Just then a ship entered the planet. Ezra said: "I'm pretty sure that's her now." Ezra left the village and went to meet Rey. Ezra walked through the forest to the Ghost which is where the ship landed beside. Ezra reached the Ghost and stopped. The ship landed beside the Ghost and the hatch opened and a young woman jumped out with a small satchel in hand. Ezra took a good look at her and said: "No offense Rey, but you look like you've just been through hell." Rey said: "Master Jarrus?" Ezra said: "If that is what you wish to call me. Or you can just call me Ezra. It's your choice. I'm going to train you as my Padawan just as my former Master trained me." Rey said: "But I'm just a scavenger." Ezra said: "A scavenger who is also highly Force sensitive. I'm willing to take you as my Padawan and train you just as my former Master trained me." Rey said: "Really?" Ezra nodded. Rey said: "I won't let you down." Ezra said: "I know. Now, let's get you back to the village and patched up. We won't start training right away. I'm sure you must be sore from the battle. Even with the Force, your body still needs time to heal." Rey said: "Thank you, Master." Ezra smiled and said: "You're welcome, my Padawan." Then they walked back to the Ewok village and walked onto the bridge. Rey felt lightheaded from the stab wound on her side and passed out, but not before Ezra caught her before she fell. He scooped her up and carried her to his hut and walked in and set her down on the bed and left and met up with Kanan and said: "Where's Ahsoka at?" Kanan said: "Anakin went to go get her. I told him to as soon as I saw you coming with her. The Force told me. Thankfully their huts are right beside mine." Ezra said: "Good." Kanan could see that Ezra was worried about Rey. Kanan said: "Hey, I'm sure she'll be alright." Ezra sighed and looked at him and said: "Dad, Rey is Palpatine's Granddaughter." Kanan said: "Okay, that's not the weirdest thing I've ever heard. Honestly, that actually doesn't surprise me." Ezra said: "You're taking it calmly." Just then Ahsoka ran over from her hut and ran into his hut with her med bag. Anakin walked over and joined the two Jedi Knights. Anakin said: "So, I hear that you took Rey as your Padawan. Your Dad told me." Ezra said: "I communicated with her through the Force early this morning. I decided to take her as my Padawan. When she arrived here, she looked like she'd been through hell. She had a gash on her forehead and a stab wound on her side. She passed out on the way here. Fortunately I caught her. I was meditating this morning and I heard her call out through the Force and I don't know, I just responded. I knew Dad was behind me because I could sense his Force signature but I just didn't acknowledge his presence. I was able to guide Rey enough to where she was able to hold her own against the Emperor." Kanan snorted and said: "Son, you were literally having a dialogue with her! Guiding her is putting it mildly." Ezra said: "yeah okay. Whatever you say." Kanan said: "Eh. Like Father, like Son." Ezra smiled and laid his head on Kanan's shoulder and said: "I love you, Dad." Kanan smiled softly and said: "I love you too, Son." Kanan wrapped his arms around him and held him close to him. Anakin decided to let the Father and Son duo be alone. Then Anakin walked off. Kanan laid his head on top of his and held Ezra close to him. Ezra leaned against him and sighed contently.
