♧~E.L.L.I.E~♧

My eyes opened after being shut for way to long. I might have fallen asleep somewhere during the chaos. We were still on the road, but this time was different. It was bright outside, the sun probably had just rised a few minutes ago. I inhaled the different humid in the air and sigh.

Turning to the man next to me. His eyes were bloodshot red. His pupils were wide and alert. He hadn't gotten a wink of sleep, and I could see that it was catching up to him as he'd blink rapidly to force his eyes open.

Elio hadn't said a thing to me after he shouted for me to put my seatbelt on. Nor did I say anything to him. I'd regretfully sulked our way to wherever we were going and closed my eyes, eventually sleep taking over me.

Right now, I felt bad. I didn't know if it was necessary for me to even offer help because I didn't even know how to drive a car. So meaning, I am practically useless.

Elio glanced at me, taking note that I've finally woken up and been staring at him. "Good morning, my love." His gruffy, tired and strained voice filled my ears. Making me frown at how tired he sounds. "Are you hungry, baby? We're almost there, sì? Hold on for me for a little longer, yeah?"

He was being so gentle, so gentle and caring even though I've made him lose his mind last night. That only made me feel worse. I felt like a rude person, and I wanted to hug him immediately. "Morning-" I cleared my throat. "I'm fine, don't w-worry." I may be hungry, but I wasn't going to make this more stressful for him.

Elio leaned in to grab my hand with one hand, his thumb caressing my knuckles softly as he nods. "I'm sorry, baby. I shouldn't have raised my voice like that with you." My brows furrowed at this utterly amazing man next to me. How he was beating himself up for something I was wrong for.

I shook my head, refusing his apology. "No, no, it's n-not your fault. I was being a bit annoying. You had ever-"

"I had no fucking rights to raise my voice at you in such a situation." He cuts me off, glancing my way for a second. The car has slowed down from it's usual crazy speed we were going in, last night. "You're worried for us, which is understandable. You were panicking and scared, which is fucking understandable. You were rushed to evacuate your home, our home, without an explanation as to why, your reactions are valid, my love."

My breath hitched, and my eyes waters at that moment. Why was he being so good to me when I put him in a hot mess dilemma last night. "We just want to protect you, principessa. You're too good for our world."

"What world, Elio?" I saw him hold a gun last night, I couldn't see it now but last night he had a gun in his possession and it didn't sit well with me. "Last night..." I trailed off, feeling as his hands tightened around mine, his body stiffening.

"...what happened last night?" I asked the question I've been dying to know ever since he dragged me out of my bedroom.

Elio was deadly quiet, his whole body stiff and he held a very unpleasant look on his face. Clearly telling me that he wasn't so happy with how everything was turning out and my question was not one he wished to answer.
