The next day, Rune found himself nervously sitting in the spacious office cabin, a mix of excitement and anxiety coursing through him. It was his first time managing the company, and the sheer size of the building, paired with the weight of responsibility, made his heart race.
He tried to focus, but his thoughts were interrupted by a soft knock at the door.
“Come in,” he ordered, straightening in his chair.
“Good morning, sir,” his secretary greeted politely as she entered.
“Good morning. Do I have any important meetings today?” Rune asked, his tone calm despite his inner nerves.
“Yes, sir. You have a meeting in the evening with the CEO of Putt Industries, a prestigious clothing brand. Your uncle is eager to collaborate with them.”
Rune nodded, masking his apprehension. “Alright. Give me the details of the meeting and the specifics of our product line.”
“Yes, sir,” she replied professionally before leaving the room.
Rune immersed himself in work, determined to give his best and crack the deal. The hours slipped by, and he didn’t notice the time or even take a break for lunch. His focus was unwavering, his determination unshakable.
A soft knock pulled him from his thoughts.
“Come in,” he said briskly.
“Sir, it’s time for the meeting,” his secretary reminded him.
“Okay. Let’s go.”
As they arrived at Putt Industries, the sheer size of the building made Rune’s nerves bubble to the surface. His palms grew clammy as he stepped into the towering structure, accompanied by the CEO’s secretary. The sleek elevator ride upward only added to his anxiety, his heart pounding with every passing second.
“Breathe,” he whispered to himself as they neared the door. Taking a deep breath, he composed himself, plastering on a confident poker face as he stepped into the meeting room.
But the moment he entered, his composure wavered. Rune froze as his gaze locked onto a familiar pair of piercing eyes. Aaron.
The air in the room seemed to thicken, tension crackling between them. Aaron’s cold, professional demeanor shifted slightly, his expression softening as he recognized Rune.
Aaron stood from his seat, his commanding presence filling the room. He walked toward Rune, each step deliberate and intense, making Rune’s pulse race uncontrollably.
“Hello,” Aaron said, extending his hand. “Aaron here. I hope you’re prepared for this meeting.”
Rune swallowed hard, shaking his hand. The brief contact sent a jolt of electricity through him, leaving his hand trembling slightly. “Don’t worry. You’ll like it,” Rune replied, his voice steady despite his nerves.
Aaron’s lips curled into a small smirk, his eyes glinting with something Rune couldn’t quite place. “By the way, you never said goodbye last night,” Aaron murmured, his voice low and almost tender.
Rune’s breath hitched, his heart thundering in his chest. “I... I didn’t think you’d care,” he whispered, his voice barely audible.
Aaron’s gaze sharpened, leaning in slightly as his tone softened. “I do care. More than you know.”
Rune’s cheeks flushed as Aaron stepped closer, the warmth of his breath brushing against his skin. His entire body tingled, overwhelmed by Aaron’s presence.
“How’s your wound? Does it hurt?” Aaron asked gently.
“A little, but... I’m fine,” Rune managed, his voice trembling.
The moment was charged, the tension between them palpable. Rune felt the world around him blur, leaving only Aaron in sharp focus. But before either could say more, the secretary’s voice broke through.
“Sir,” she said, startling them both.
Aaron straightened, his expression returning to its professional mask. “Come. Sit,” he said, gesturing toward a chair.
The meeting began, Rune’s confidence shining as he presented his ideas. His clear, precise delivery impressed everyone in the room, including Aaron, who couldn’t seem to take his eyes off him.
By the end of the meeting, the deal was as good as sealed, with Rune earning admiration for his sharp insights and professionalism. Aaron, however, was captivated by something more—something he couldn’t quite put into words. As Rune gathered his things, Aaron’s gaze lingered, a small smile playing on his lips. This is going to be interesting, he thought to himself.
