Throughout the flight, Rune couldn't shake the memory of the man who had intervened for him.

After landing, Rune was relieved to see his uncle waiting to pick him up. He greeted his uncle warmly, hugging him. His uncle took him to his renowned restaurant and then home, where they spent the day catching up. Rune soon forgot his worries and relaxed in his uncle's company.

Later that night, Rune couldn’t sleep. The excitement of being in a new country and the whirlwind of emotions from leaving his family behind had left him restless. Deciding to clear his mind, he stepped out of his uncle’s home and went for a quiet stroll.

The city was alive in a way that Korea never was. Vampires and werewolves walked side by side, their interactions so casual and seamless that Rune couldn’t help but stop and stare. It was nothing like the strict segregation back home, where even crossing territories was an offense punishable by death. This—this was unthinkable.

As Rune turned a corner, something caught his eye—a moment that made his breath hitch. Hidden in the shadows of a narrow alley, a vampire and an omega wolf stood close together. At first, Rune thought they were simply talking, but then the vampire leaned in, cupping the wolf’s face, and kissed her.

Rune froze, his heart pounding in his chest as a surge of emotions swept through him. A vampire kissing an omega? His mind reeled, struggling to comprehend what he was seeing.

“No,” he muttered under his breath, his fists clenching at his sides. “How can this be? What about her mate?”

Wolves were the most loyal of creatures, their bonds with their mates sacred and unbreakable. The idea of an omega—a wolf—betraying that bond was beyond Rune’s comprehension. Anger simmered beneath his shock as his gaze bore into the pair.

The omega wolf tilted her head back, a soft smile on her lips as the vampire whispered something Rune couldn’t hear. The intimacy between them was undeniable, their closeness electric. Rune’s stomach churned.

“What is this?” he whispered, his voice trembling with disbelief. “How could she…?” His thoughts spiraled. Was she rejecting her mate for a vampire? Did the wolf even have a mate, or had she chosen to defy the laws of their kind altogether?

The vampire brushed a strand of hair from the wolf’s face, leaning in again for another kiss. Rune’s breath hitched, his anger now mingling with a strange sense of betrayal he couldn’t explain.

Unable to watch any longer, Rune tore his gaze away, his mind racing. This world is so different. So wrong. He forced his feet to move, distancing himself from the scene as quickly as he could.

But the image lingered, burned into his mind, challenging everything he thought he knew about loyalty, love, and the unbreakable bond of mates.

He ignore the scene starts wondering. As he wandered, he heard noises coming from a dark alley between buildings. Curiosity piqued, he followed the sounds and discovered several thugs attempting to assault a woman. Without hesitation, Rune jumped in to defend her, confronting the outnumbered thugs.

"Look at this guy, playing the knight in shining armor for the damsel. But who's going to save the knight?" one of the thugs mocked, their laughter echoing in the alley.

Rune felt a chill as he listened to their eerie laughter. "Don't worry, we'll be safe," he reassured the trembling woman.

"Oh, so you'll protect her, but who will protect you?" another thug taunted, moving towards Rune.

Before the man could strike, Rune swiftly blocked his hand and delivered a powerful kick, sending him crashing into a nearby wall.

"Don't mistake me for a weakling. I am an alpha," Rune declared fiercely, his voice resonating with authority.

"Now listen to me. Leave us alone and walk away, or you'll regret it," he warned, his anger simmering.

The thugs, enraged, converged on him, intent on overpowering him. Undeterred, Rune fought back, the alley filled with the sounds of grunts and groans as he swiftly incapacitated each assailant.

However, one of the thugs grabbed an iron rod and struck Rune in the head, drawing blood and causing him to stagger in pain. Despite the injury, the assailants continued their assault, relentlessly kicking him while he was down.

The woman seized the opportunity to flee and call for help. Just as Rune was overwhelmed, a strong voice rang out, commanding the thugs to stop.

"Stop!" a powerful man ordered, stepping forward to intervene.
