"Redd?" Scarlett asked.

"Gone." Charlie replied in a low voice, stepping over a large fallen beam of metal.

Not much remained intact where they were except the supposed hideout Scarlett told the group about.

"Tank?" He questioned back.

"A Jayden got him, bitch could walk through walls. She self destructed, he—"

"I get it." He cut her off.
"I'm sorry."

Charred buildings slowly fell apart in front of them as they traversed through the early impact sites trail of destruction. It had only been a few days since new years, not much was left standing, bodies with gunshot wounds gathered in groups where post apocalyptic hostels had been, completely destroyed by Jayden.

"The mall?" He queried

"We didn't mean to end up there but we have a small community there." She explained.
"It's secure except from the Jayden that can walk through walls."

"You what now?" Alex asked trailing behind.

"They had powers like we have but I have no idea how's that's really possible."

Charlie retold Five's knowledge of Imbuing abilities to Scarlett, though he himself was still struggling to understand. The conversation was ultimately cut short by another minefield of corpses, flies plagued the bodies now they'd been left untouched for a few days.

"Bet you thought I was in danger huh?" She said punching his arm playfully.

"Nah. If it takes more than apocalypse to stop me, it'll take ten times as much to stop you."

She laughed before her face turned serious yes again.
"Rose?" She asked with remorse.

Charlie looked to the ground.
"There was a crash." Was all he managed to say before he shut himself up.

"Let's not let them die in vein." She perked up showing him a smile.

He smiled back but knew deep down the funerals were only just beginning, how many more would die to the hands of a single woman? As day drew to dusk and legs grew sore the almost full moon peaked out from behind the surrounding buildings, giving them something to watch while they hiked through human and structural ruin.

"At least that'll always be there, can't kill the moon." She joked, everyone else still walked silently looking around at either the devastation or the sky.

Charlie just stared at Scarlett who was looking up to the moon, now he knew she was okay he was trying to make every moment count. They had not been together long but the events that had unwrapped before them had strengthened their bond to be on par with Alex's whom Charlie had known almost his entire life. He enjoyed having friends, he didn't enjoy loosing them. He felt like he had formed strong bonds with everyone who had helped them so far, by the end of it all he would be glad to call them family.

Eventually they came to the mall Scarlett had told them about, before them stood a cream brick building with a large unpowered glass sign which read 'The Beacon'. Most of the windows were either cracked or smashed entirely, piles of shopping carts and supplies were piled up against the now inaccessible revolving doors. Charlie made an effort not to comment on the fresh graves outside, Scarlett led them up piles of fractured concrete and metal beams which eventually ended up at the roof of the large shelter.

"And why didn't we bring the ship?" An out of breath Buck asked from behind.

"Too loud, we need to stay hidden and not let Jayden know you all are here." She shouted back. She got close to Charlie's ear.
"why was he knocked out on the ship?"
