In the largest room in Ravensworth, where five SCs "live" for most of the year -
"WE SHOULDN'T HAVE STAYED UP YESTERDAY WATCHING THAT DAMN MOVIE!!!!" Aria is screaming her head off, rushing around faster than our eyes can follow.
All of us are chill, having already gotten our backpacks and supplies ready, but Aria, who refused to get up earlier, is now going crazy trying to pack everything up. It isn't the movie's fault, and we're staring holes into her.
"We're going to be late," I comment, impatiently shuffling from foot to foot.
"QUiEt Evelyn, let me cOok! Omg, we're so screwed - " She's stuffing everything she needs in a Case-it, including her earbuds (which she is suddenly using this year) and is rushing to the door, slamming into it and opening it with one hand since the other is occupied by her Case-it. How she does it is amazing, and somehow she can do almost anything with one hand. Even eating candy that has a wrapper. But then again, this is coming from the same kid who's using "cook" in ninth grade, so I don't know what to say.
Lilith and Ruby roll their eyes as we rush to the main campus, surpassing all the other students as they part like the Red Sea. We're a pretty known group by now, somehow everybody wants to be friends with us and everything, especially after that whole showdown with the Masked Villain #7 in the main hallway. We're legends!!!! We dash in the classroom just as the bell rings, and the teacher barely looks up when we sit down.
Dr. Nays is a good teacher... mostly. Good as in she doesn't care what we do the whole class as long as we turn in our work and don't get too loud. She's that one teacher you have whose brain seems like it is flying over the moon, not even knowing that a few kids just cussed loudly or are literally throwing pencils all over the place. She's bad in the way that you can't really ask her questions, because she will just give you information you already know. She's very empty headed, and it's a miracle she got her PHD.
We sit down, and Dr. Nays doesn't even teach or anything, especially because this is an elective. She just calls out attendance (note how we got our schedules yesterday behind the scenes) and we say HERE loudly, making sure she heard. Several times we were marked absent because she "couldn't hear us". I don't think she can hear very well to not hear the loud cursing and everything, but she doesn't wear a hearing aid.
How we keep getting her class is a miracle called Lilith-hacking-the-school-system, because if we don't get her class, I don't know how we will keep Claire out of detention. The whole class she's watching movies and readings, not that we aren't peering over her shoulder. Her grades for this class are... well, great, because we do her work. In other classes, she actually does work and then goes back to watching. But she always insists on one class to "chillax".
Well, more like I do, because Aria is too busy doing something (we learned after a while not to ask, because sometimes we just wouldn't want to know, like body removals and stuff) after she's done, Zoe's busy crocheting (I have to admit, she's doing something useful, the stuff she makes is so cute, it's to die for) after she's done, Ruby is busy doing... something (usually in on whatever Aria is doing and helping her), and Lilith watches animal videos and videos her parents sent her of her German Shepard.
So it falls on me... but then again, sometimes I just fall asleep. Then, it's up to Zoe, because she doesn't like to study, and this is the only way we can get her to "study".
This time, Dr. Nays gives us a worksheet that talks about figurative language, which doesn't make sense because this is nonfiction writing, and also, this is ninth grade. We have talked about that for five years in a row. I think we are all slow if we can't get it by now.
Lilith dutifully does her work, and then, like the lazy kids we are, we copy off of her after we finish with some things, also called, nothing.
"Guys!"
All six of us whip our heads to the side to look at the speaker, a familiar looking dark-brown-banged boy with blue eyes.
"Are you a stalker?" Ruby asked.
"No, are you guys?" He smirked at her, offering twinkling eyes. Oh gosh, here we go again. Yesterday, the whole lunch, they were going back and forth. I mean, it's kind of cute, but also, not really. We couldn't eat in peace.
Besides, I think all of us are silently questioning how she's treating him. If he's our new MC, then this is not how she's supposed to be to him. We're supposed to be all friends. And besides, if he's the new MC, it would kind of make sense that he's in our classes.
"Nope, dork." Hmm, Ruby got her sass back.
"Oh, dork? I was playing nice, now, you're permanently stuck with princess and Rubes."
"Yeah, so? Then I'm calling you Tom."
"Tom?" Ruby rolled her eyes at his cluelessness, we quietly laughed. Five points for Ruby.
"Tom Holland. He played Peter Parker?" Jas - oh sorry, Tom's eyes widen with realization and he rolls his eyes, trying to quickly recover.
"Okay, then I'm Tom and you're Rubes the princess."
They shot daggers at each other (figuratively), but Jason seemed to be having fun, having a casual smirk on, while Ruby looked like she was battling a serial killer. Which she did, more than once. For some reason, the serial killers love targeting her.
I mean, I'm fine dealing with most of the cults trying to sacrifice me. It's enough trying to not convince them I'm not an "innocent" little girl that is so pure and should be sacrificed. Most of the time, though, my words don't work, only my actions. AKA, I have to kill around three of them to get out. I don't want to, it's because they're blocking the entrance and have the intention to harm.
For the rest of the class, I finish Claire's work, while Ruby is preoccupied with maintaining the honor of girls around the world by making sure Jason can't win their "argument." To be honest, it kind of gives me enemies-to-lovers vibes.
We need to come up with a ship name.
