The day after the court hearing, Kim and Tim were finally home, their guard momentarily lowered after the whirlwind of emotions and tension. The living room was warm and dimly lit as they cuddled on the sofa, wrapped in a soft blanket. The quiet hum of the city outside was a welcome contrast to the high-stakes courtroom drama they had faced.

Kim rested her head on Tim's chest, feeling the steady rise and fall of his breathing. She closed her eyes for a moment, letting the weight of the past few days sink in. The case was over for now, but the emotional toll still lingered.

"I can't believe it's finally done," Kim said softly, her voice barely above a whisper.

Tim tightened his arm around her, his hand gently rubbing her back. "You did amazing in there, Kim. You held your ground, like always."

She smiled faintly, though her thoughts were still swirling. "I don't know how I would've made it through without you. It was just... a lot." She paused, biting her lip. "The memories, facing Marcus in court. Everything."

Tim shifted slightly so he could look down at her. His blue eyes were filled with both pride and concern. "You're stronger than you give yourself credit for. But I know it wasn't easy."

Kim let out a long sigh. "It felt like reliving it all over again. And even though he's locked up, part of me can't shake the feeling that this isn't completely over. I hate that he still has that power over me."

Tim gently brushed a strand of hair away from her face. "I get it. But you've come so far since that day, Kim. You've been through hell and back, and you're still here. You're still fighting."

She nodded, knowing he was right, but still feeling the heaviness in her chest. "I just... I never thought my life would get this complicated. The shooting, therapy, everything with my dad—" She hesitated. "—and now, us."

Tim raised an eyebrow at that last part. "What about us?"

Kim looked up at him, a soft smile tugging at her lips. "I mean... in a good way. This—" She gestured between them. "—feels right. Being with you feels right. I just never thought I'd have this after everything."

Tim's gaze softened, and he leaned down, pressing a kiss to her forehead. "We're in this together, Kim. Always."

They fell into a comfortable silence for a moment, the weight of the conversation giving way to the warmth between them. Tim's hand continued to rub gentle circles on her back, and Kim felt herself relax, the tension slowly leaving her body.

"You know," Tim started, his tone lighter, "I never pictured myself like this either. But... I'm glad it's with you."

Kim smiled and shifted so she could look up at him better. "Really? You didn't picture yourself settling down and cuddling on the sofa with someone?"
