Ch. 12: Training

Late 2014 - Early 2015

Madelyn sits on her bed tying her shoe as she gets herself mentally prepared for training today. Since she returned from her private training and protection detail off the planet, she has been cleared to start training with the Avengers. She's gotten better at controlling her powers, but she is still working on separating her powers and her emotions. Fury has not cleared her yet to be a part of the team, but Steve still includes her in their trainings. Each Avengers works with her on different skills to help her, and she is starting feel like they are her family. She smiles to herself as she thinks about where she is now with her new family. Nat and Clint are still protective, Bruce feels like an uncle, Thor is like a brother, and Tony...Tony reminds her a lot of her dad, what she remembers of him at least. She's also gotten closer to Steve...finding his presence warm and exciting. Training with him, being close to him, it feels different than anyone else...

"Maddy you almost ready?" Steve's voice calls for her outside her door, pulling her from her thoughts. She shakes her head, getting rid of any thoughts she was having about him as she stands. 

"Yeah sorry" She mumbles, heading toward the door and opening it. He's standing there in one of those tight shirts, hair a little messy from his morning run. She stares up at him; he's a good few inches taller than her. 

"Alright let's go, I think it's just gonna be me and you today," Steve says to her as they walk down to the training room. 

"O-oh, it is?" She says, trying not to let her shaking voice betray her. 

"Yeah you're stuck with just me today" He smiles at her, opening the training room door for her to go in before him. 

"Lucky me" She says with a smile as she walks into the room, realizing what she just said after she said it. 'Please let him not have heard that' She thinks to herself. 

Steve bows his head a little bit to hide his growing smile as he follows her into the room. The two warm up a little bit before they begin sparring. 

"Don't think about the fact you're fighting me, okay? Don't hold back" Steve says as he blocks one of her punches, "Use your powers, fight 100%" 

Madelyn throws a harder punch which he dodges. The fighting grows more intense as Madelyn gets frustrated she isn't winning. 

"That's it. Channel the anger into your powers" Steve encourages her as they move around the mats, continuing to spar. He throws a punch her way, which she dodges this time. He wants her to get stronger. He goes to throw another punch, and she grabs his fist with her hand, swiftly dodging and twisting his arm around to hold him back from attacking again. 

"Come on super soldier, don't hold back because I'm learning" She says a little angrily, wanting to be treated like the other Avengers, as if they are actually fighting. 

Steve smirks and scoffs a little bit, turning back around, compromising their position to where her back is now against his chest, his arm wrapped around her shoulders, and her hand is still holding onto his fist. She lets out a slight huff as they change positions. 

"Think you can handle it?" He asks, his bicep squeezing around her chin as he holds her back firmly against his chest. 

Madelyn suddenly shocks him with a little bit of her powers, using the surprise shock to her advantage and snaking out of his grasp. She then kicks into his chest, sending him backwards before she shoots a beam at him. Her eyes are glowing slightly as her powers start to activate.
