Lia couldn't help but smile, Nik had given her a shadow. She knew he didn't trust the Salvatores, especially with his mother's coffin still missing. Walking past Dom, she waved and went inside. She needed to see Jenna a grab another change of clothes.
"Jeez, one would think you moved out with how little you're home." Her aunt joked.
Smiling, Lia gave her a hug, "Nope, just avoiding drama."
Jenna sighed, "Can't say I blame you. Elena's up to something, it has to do with Nik and his family."
"Well, they currently still have Nik's mom. Shes trouble, like kill everyone, trouble."
"I thought their mom was dead?" Jenna asked.
Lia shook her head, "Witches did something to her, so she's in a stasis. If they wake her, we will have big problems."
"Hopefully they aren't dumb enough to invite more trouble here." Jenna sighed then looked to Lia curiously, "You wouldn't happen to know who burnt down Wickory Bridge, would you?"
Lia put on her most angelic look, "No, I didn't even know it burnt."
Jenna's eyes narrowed, "Sure. You forget, I know you better than that niece."
"It was made of White Oak, I needed it gone. Plus, I hated that bridge."
Jenna hugged her, "Me too."

Lia walked into the Grill, she was meeting Mason there. When she spotted him, he waved her over, ignoring the glares coming from another table. Sitting, she asked, "How long have they been doing that?"
Mason laughed, "The whole time I've been here. So, where's Nik?"
"He's trying to get his house finished, so I have my shadow." She motioned to Dom. "He's the poor Hybrid who got stuck with me."
Mason looked at her confused, "It's not a bad thing, it's actually a sign of trust on Niks part, considering."
Now it was Lia's turn to be confused, "Why? I'm not a Hybrid or anything like that."
He motioned to her mark, "He marked you, Lia." Seeing she still wasn't comprehending, "You're his mate, he marked you with a mating mark."
Her hand went up to the mark, "Oh! He didn't say anything about it."
Mason shrugged, "He may not know, since he didn't grow up with a pack. I only found out recently."
"Is that why his Hybrids listen to me?"
"Most likely, plus you're a likable person." He replied.
As they spoke, neither realized Damon had overheard everything.

Lia entered Niks house, she was a little worried about the conversation to come. She was positive he would have told her if he knew. Now, she just hoped he didn't regret his actions, she didn't. Finally, she found him in his art room.
Nik turned when he heard Lia enter, "Hello luv. I thought you were meeting Mason."
"I did but he told me something that we need to speak about." She walked over to the sofa.
Setting down his paint brush, he walked closer, "What did he say Lia?"
Motioning to her mark, "Do you know what this is, to wolves?" He shook his head, "Mason said it was a mating mark."
Niks eyes widened, "Oh" he needed to ask, "Does that bother you?"
Lia shook her head, "No, but what about you? You've not been with your wolf long and now you're with me."
