The trio's growing mistrust reaches a critical point as they leave the forbidden zone and continue navigating the base's endless maze of tunnels. The eerie glow of the mushrooms and the shifting shadows seem to mock their attempts to find a way out. But something has changed in the air—something more dangerous than before.

Jake lags behind, his eyes darting nervously at every flicker of light and sound. He's been on edge ever since Sarah's near-possession, and the strain is starting to show. The guilt of leading his friends into a nightmare he barely understands gnaws at him, and it begins to twist his judgment.

Suddenly, a soft voice echoes in Jake's mind, a whisper so faint he's not sure if it's real or imagined. They will betray you first. Leave them before they leave you. He shakes his head, trying to clear his thoughts, but the voice persists, growing louder and more insistent.

As the group reaches a particularly narrow tunnel, Jake hesitates. He watches Sarah and Mike moving ahead, their figures outlined in the dim, pulsating light. The voice returns, this time unmistakably clear. You've always been second best to them. They don't trust you anymore. It's only a matter of time before they leave you behind.

Jake clenches his fists, fighting the pull of the voice. But the seed of doubt has already been planted, and in his exhausted state, it begins to take root. "Guys, wait up," he calls out, but there's a sharp edge in his voice that wasn't there before.

Mike turns, a wary look on his face. "What's wrong?"

Jake hesitates, the words on the tip of his tongue. It's now or never. He takes a deep breath, and then—almost without thinking—he lunges. Grabbing a rusted pipe from the ground, he swings it toward Mike, his face contorted with a mix of rage and fear.

"Jake! What the hell are you doing?!" Sarah screams, but she's too far away to stop him.

The pipe connects with Mike's arm, knocking him to the ground. Mike rolls, pain flashing across his face as he struggles to regain his footing. "Jake, stop! This isn't you!"

But Jake can't hear him. The voice in his head has taken over, drowning out reason with paranoia and fear. He raises the pipe again, ready to strike, when suddenly, a bright flash of blue light fills the tunnel.

The spirits, their glowing forms flickering with energy, appear between Jake and Mike, halting the attack. For a moment, the air is charged with a strange, otherworldly tension. Jake's grip on the pipe loosens as the spirits surround him, their presence both calming and terrifying.

You are not yourself, the spirits seem to whisper in unison, their voices filling the tunnel. The darkness feeds on your fear. Let it go, or you will be consumed.

Jake stumbles backward, the pipe clattering to the ground. His breath comes in ragged gasps as the voice in his head fades, replaced by a crushing wave of guilt and confusion. "I... I didn't mean to," he stammers, his eyes wide with horror.

But the damage has been done. Sarah rushes to Mike's side, her eyes filled with both fear and betrayal. Mike, still clutching his arm, looks up at Jake with a mixture of anger and sorrow. "You were supposed to have our backs," he says quietly, the weight of the words cutting deeper than any wound.
