The incident with Jake leaves the group fractured, but there's no time to dwell on their broken trust. The base, as if sensing their discord, begins to shift once more. The walls tremble, and the tunnels behind them collapse with a deafening roar. The only way out is forward, but every step feels more treacherous than the last.

"We need to keep moving," Mike says, wincing as he holds his injured arm. "This place is falling apart."

Jake, still shaken from his attack, hangs back, the weight of his actions pressing down on him like a physical burden. He avoids eye contact with both Mike and Sarah, guilt etched into every line of his face. But even as he follows them, he knows that things will never be the same again.

As they press on, the tunnel widens into a large, open space—an industrial area with towering machines and crumbling walkways. The air is thick with dust, and the faint sound of machinery whirring in the distance fills the otherwise oppressive silence.

"This doesn't feel right," Sarah murmurs, glancing around. "It's too open."

Before anyone can respond, the ground beneath them gives way with a sickening crack. Sarah screams as she falls, disappearing into the darkness below. Mike and Jake manage to grab onto a nearby railing, but the sudden shift leaves them hanging precariously above a deep, yawning pit.

"Sarah!" Mike yells, his voice echoing in the empty space. But there's no response, only the distant sound of something moving—something far below.

"We need to find her," Jake says, his voice strained as he pulls himself up onto the ledge. But Mike doesn't move. His face is pale, his eyes fixed on the darkness where Sarah disappeared.

"We can't go down there," Mike whispers, his voice hollow. "If we do, none of us are getting out."

For a moment, Jake stares at him, disbelief and anger flaring in his chest. But he knows Mike is right. The base has turned into a trap, and every step forward only leads them deeper into its clutches.

With no other options, they pull themselves up and move forward, leaving the gaping pit—and the possibility of Sarah's survival—behind them. The base's walls close in tighter, the shadows growing darker, as they realize that their chances of escape are slipping away with each passing second.
