Mike and Jake move forward in a tense, uneasy silence after Sarah's fall. Every step feels heavier than the last, and the air itself seems to hum with malevolent energy. Mike can't shake the feeling that they're being watched, that something—or someone—is lurking just out of sight, waiting for them to falter. And he's right.

Their path leads them to a cavernous chamber at the base's center, where the walls are lined with ancient machinery, now rusted and half-functional. The room pulses with the strange blue light of the spirits, casting long, eerie shadows across the cracked floor. At the far end of the chamber, a large metallic door looms—an exit, perhaps, or another trap. But standing between them and that door are the blue spirits, more numerous than before, their glowing forms flickering in and out of visibility.

Jake grips the rusted pipe he had used earlier, his hands shaking. "This is it, isn't it?" he says, glancing at Mike. "The end of the line."

Mike doesn't answer. His eyes are locked on the spirits, his heart pounding in his chest. He can feel something stirring inside him—something dark, something that's been waiting for this moment. It's not just the spirits that haunt this place. It's the base itself, feeding off their fears, their guilt, their unresolved pain.

The melodic voice of the spirits echoes through the chamber. You have come far, but not far enough. The truth you seek lies within, but only if you are willing to face it.

Mike's chest tightens. He knows what they mean. The truth isn't about his brother or the base. It's about the demons he's been running from—his own inner darkness. The anger, the guilt, the fear that's driven him to this point. And now, there's no escaping it.

"I'm not like him," Mike mutters, though he's not sure if he's speaking to the spirits or to himself. "I'm not..."

But the spirits surround him, their light growing brighter, forcing him to confront the memories he's buried deep within. He sees his brother, standing at the edge of this same base, the same look of determination in his eyes. He sees the day his brother disappeared—the day Mike vowed to find him, no matter the cost.

And then, in a flash of clarity, Mike realizes the truth: his brother hadn't disappeared. He'd been consumed—by the same darkness that now threatens to consume Mike.

Jake steps closer, his voice filled with concern. "Mike? What's going on?"

But Mike can't answer. His mind is a whirlwind of memories and emotions, swirling together into one chaotic mass. He feels the weight of his guilt, his anger, his fear crashing down on him all at once. And at the center of it all, he sees his brother's face, staring back at him with cold, accusing eyes.

"You're just like me," his brother whispers, his voice filled with venom. "You'll never escape."

Mike falls to his knees, his hands clutching his head. The room around him fades into darkness, and all he can hear is his brother's voice, echoing in his mind. Just like me...

Jake rushes to Mike's side, shaking him. "Mike! Snap out of it!" But no matter how hard he tries, he can't reach his friend.

The spirits watch, their blue light flickering ominously as Mike struggles against the inner demons threatening to consume him. The chamber is silent, save for the sound of Mike's ragged breathing and the faint hum of the base's machinery.

Jake, unsure of what else to do, turns to the spirits. "Help him!" he shouts, desperation in his voice. "Do something!"

The spirits' voices echo once more. Only he can save himself. The truth must be faced, or he will be lost.
