20. Spiders and First Crushes

"Hi."

"Hi."

Davina peered around the corner like a stalker as aemond made a friend.

"Im Aemond." He introduced

"Lia!" A woman called out.

"Bye!" She told aemond before running off. Davina casually made her way to aemond still watching the little girl run off to presumably her own mother.

"Shes cute."

"Lia." aemond answered

"Lia." Davina confirmed. "You making new friends?" Aemond turned to his mother.

"I certainly hope so."

"Yeah its slim pickings around here."

A few of the older children were given jobs in the castle, helping in the kitchen, they liked the constant food but most of the children were in the new and improved orphanage. That little girl however Davina didnt recognize, she was well kept. Most of the children she had rescued were dirty despite the baths. Davina wondered who Lia was because her little boy looked like he had his very first crush.

Davina was said to be fearless but she had a fear. A very big fear of a very little thing.

It was pouring outside the carriage when davina saw a spider. She screamed KILL IT! Criston was quick to scurry it out the window but then more little spiders appeared. Davina screamed a battle scream of terror pounding her fist- yes she would have to burn her hand now- against the carriage walls

"Fucker had a nest in here". Criston offered in realization

"Don't say that!" Davina shouted as little spiders ran around the carriage tormenting davina

"They cant hurt you dav." Viserys offered.

"Sure they can." Davina countered "they have teeth- ahhh! Where are they coming from! Im getting out. Stop the carriage!"

"Davina its pouring"

"I will walk!"

"We are miles from-"

"Do you see these spiders every fucking where? I do." Davina shouted.  Davina rose a fist eyeing the carriage.

She moved her arms and legs uncomfortably she felt itchy everywhere. She shrieked pounding another spider

"Fucking nest." Davina whimpered. She turned her scared eyes on viserys.  "You know if grandfather terminated the spiders like I commanded this wouldnt be happening now!" Davina sassed on edge. This was about to be the longest ride of her life. "Im getting out!" She demanded "they are still here!"

'Its pouring!"

"And its torture in here. Literal torture." Her eyes scanned the carriage like the devil was lurking and to her a hundred little devils were lurking waiting to come out and attack.

Aemond stared back at davina he had never seen her like this before. He reached out for her as she mumbled she had to be brave and had to have a cleansing of fire after this.

Viserys started to sing a song he sung as a child to davina and she spoke back the words fist raised eyes tracking the spider.

"I dont think you know you give me a heart attack every time you appear." Davina whispered between lyrics.

This was going to be the longest ride of her life. She crawled into cristons lap hand still fisted. No one said a thing about the display. Criston should have been on a horse in the rain like normal sworn swords but davina didn't want him outside and he had been holding aemond so she made sure there was room for him in the carriage. She was glad now that he was here because she felt vulnerable not her usual renegade self.

"Davina-" the stubble on cristons face sent a shiver through her- usually she liked that touch but she smacked at her neck and his face by extension. "Ow." He said matter of factly.

"Sorry." She crossed her legs trying to touch less of the carriage.

"I got you Dav." Criston assured holding her. 

Alicent wanted a love like that. She got viserys instead.
