Ian’s POV.

I was angry. And it wasn’t just the mild type of anger, but the boiling kind. The kind that made me want to take it all out on an innocent person, but I remained sitting by my laptop, forcing myself to relax and focus on what I was doing.

It wouldn’t do me any good to go off and kill an innocent human just because I was angry. And it wasn’t my fault I was angry. That Jenny just had to open her mouth and spoil my mood. Now I knew why Jacob didn’t like her…much.

I ran my hands through my hair in frustration, my chest rising and falling wildly as I glared at the laptop. I kept staring at the screen of.my laptop but I wasn’t even seeing anything in particular. All I could think of was how angry I was.

Jenny couldn’t fault me for being angry at Sophia. Sophia had taken a stupid risk that endangered both their lives. If Lyanna hadn’t been there to save them that day, them the both of them would have been injured or kidnapped, or worse.

I was still trying to figure out what the witches wanted with them but I didn’t know. It was hard to understand. Why were the witches after them? Or had Sophia provoked one of them?

Even after I had told her not to leave the house without any of my men, she still went ahead to leave the house and even put Jenny’s life in danger.

And I tried to scold her but she wouldn’t even apologize or acknowledge the fact that she was reckless and she put she and Jenny’s life in danger.

“You good?”

That soft feminine voice snapped me out of my thoughts and I looked at Lyanna who took a seat next to me.

“Yeah,” I lied, gritting my teeth.

“Hmm that doesn’t seem like the truth,” she murmured and took a sip from the mug in her hand. “I saw Jenny storming out of here. Did Sophia do something? Or was it you? Because I sure as hell know that it wasn’t Jacob. He was with me the when time.”

“Well what do you think?” I asked through gritted teeth.

“Oh. What did Sophia do this time?” She asked, her interest piqued as she dropped the mug.

I sighed, rubbing my face then closing my laptop. “I don’t know what conversation she and Sophia had, but she’s angry with me and she keeps saying I should fix whatever I did to Sophia,” I murmured. Lyanna wasn’t someone I could be lying to. I knew she could help me with whatever issues I was having with Sophia. She could give me good advice.

“Oh,” she murmured. “Well I’ve been meaning to ask anyways. What’s up with you guys? I haven’t been seeing Sophia around at all.”

“She’s avoiding me,” I answered flatly.

“And why is she avoiding you?” Lyanna asked. “Did you both fight?”

“We had an argument about she and Jenny going out without telling anyone and she kind of got angry about that. She refuses to see her fault in that,” I explained. “I don’t think she thinks anyone can protect her. I don’t think she likes this life. She doesn’t like this life.”

With a sigh, I placed my hand on my face and rubbed slightly.

“And that’s why you both have been ignoring each other?” Lyanna asked and then shook her head with an over exaggerated sigh. “It’s very clear that she doesn’t like this life. She didn’t ask for this life—”

“Exactly what she keeps saying,” I murmured and Lyanna sighed again.

“Yeah. She died, and you’re the reason she died. You marked her against her will, you put your blood in her drink against her will and your fiancee killed her. Still she woke up and transitioned into your kind and Freya still tried to kill her. What do you think? That all of a sudden, she’ll be food with that? That it wouldn’t hurt her once in a while? That she wouldn’t get angry about that once in a while?”

I bit my lip, not knowing what exactly to say.

“Of course she didn’t ask for this life, Ian. Of course she’s going to get angry about it. And when she does, you don’t get angry at her because of that too. She’s still trying to adjust and you should be helping her adjust. You know that.”

“It doesn’t mean she should make bad decisions because she’s mad at me or mad that she’s one of us. It doesn’t change the fact that what she did was reckless and stupid, and if you weren’t there, she’d be dead along with her best friend,” I argued. Lyanna opened her mouth to talk but the near silent footsteps alerted me and I turned around to see Sophia approaching the stairs. I clenched my jaw and looked away.

“Where’s Jenny?” She demanded, not speaking to anyone in particular. “She’s not in her room and she’s not…here.”

“She went out,” Lyanna replied while I just remained quiet, not looking at her or talking to her.

“When was that?” She asked, her voice rising slightly.

“Um…that was…” I could see the blood draining from her face and I frowned, wondering what was wrong. “About 4 hours ago.”

“Four hours?” Sophia screeched, her eyes going wide. “Four hours?!”

“Sophia—”

“Four hours and no one has gone out to look for her? What the fuck is wrong with you people?” She bellowed and I got up.

“Sophia-“ I began but I could see that she was already spiralling. She was frantic and that was bad.

“Jesus. Ian,” Lyanna began, and then moved her hands frantically. Sophia. Went rigid for a moment, and then went limp. I grabbed her before she could collapse on the floor.

“What did you do?” I screeched and she shrugged, seeming helpless.

“She was going crazy!” She murmured. I had to do something.”

“And this is what you do?” I demanded.

“I put her to sleep!” Lyanna defended herself. “And we better find Jenny before she wakes up. Or else I’m not sure we’ll like what happens next.”

“Oh God,” I murmured, picking her up and zooming off to her room with her. I dropped her off in her room and zoomed back down. At the same time, Jacob was walking into the house with an alarmed look.

“What’s wrong with her?” He demanded. “With Jenny?”

“She has been gone for four hours,” Lyanna said, beating me to it. “And you better think twice before spiraling or I’ll put you to sleep.”
